Diablo 4took steps to expand the series in as many directions as possible, and needless to say, it’s a large game. You can spend days trying to cover every inch of Sanctuary for secrets and unique items. This ends up highlighting the game’s greatest resource, and its greatest reward:the horse.

While there are several mounts locked behind microtransactions, there are still many horses and horse armors that you can find through various avenues. Customizing an RPG character is a tradition, and we couldn’t bare if the trusty steed was left out. Through new reins and armor, you can drastically change what you parade around on as you go about your demon-slaying quest.
10Pale Steed Mount
The white horse is iconic to fantasy, and it wouldn’t be fair if there weren’t at least one in Diablo 4. If you want to ride like Gandalf on Shadowfax, you may start grinding anywhere, because it’s a rare drop from just about any source. It is a pretty mount though, so they may be worth it.
The mount itself is solid white, and it stands out in the desert and jungle regions of the map. There aren’t any fancy patterns or designs to be found here; just a very dapper horse. The cavalier’s mount is another white horse, but it sports a different mane, so you do have options.
9Executioner’s Mount
The Executioners mount can be found in most loot tables across Sanctuary, making this among the many horses that take pure chance to get. Finding areas with high enemy density is the only real advice for finding these guys, but as a consolation, you can get a variety of cosmetics along the way.
The mount has a subtle pattern engraved in its fur, making it one of the most visuallyunique mounts you may find. The braided mane is a nice touch too.
8Hawezar Barding Armor
Changing your mount directly isn’t the only way to alter the look of your hooved companion. Horse armors mostly function as accented decorations, but there are several that will make it nearly impossible to see the mount underneath. The Hawezar barding is a great example of covering your horse head-to-tail in black charger armor.
If death had a steed, he’d give it this. Unfortunately, it’s another random drop in the Hawezar region’s loot table. Mounts like this compete for their rare drop with other mounts in the region, as well as those that can be found anywhere, so there is no easy strategy for finding these among the massive pile of horses and armor.
7Bloody Horse Mount
Not all mounts have an easy or even commonly accepted drop method. Thankfully, the bloody horse mount is an exception. No, you won’t have to grind for random drops to acquire this beast. Instead, you’ll have to engage in the PVP area.Once you’ve collected enough blood gems, you can purchase the mount directly.

The name is as blunt as it could be. It is a horse, and they are bloody. Are there any more questions? Whose blood is it soaked in? Best no one thinks about it. Does the horse want hosed off? It doesn’t seem like it. It seems okay with its situation, so carry on, you walking blood-borne pathogen.
6Bloody Liquid Mount
You know what they say: “No game is complete withouttwoblood-soaked horses,” and if you thought “that other horse isn’t bloody enough,” then is this the horse for you! The name is a bit more poetic than its counterpart, however. This horse isn’t just bloody, it’s so covered in blood that it registers as a liquid in the states of matter.
To get this mount you will need to beat the game’s first super boss, the Echo of Lilith. She’s only available on the highest world tier, and they’re scaled to level 100. If you may topple that challenge, then you deserve your reward.
5Decaying Steed Mount
Mount names don’t need to be complex. The decaying steed is a zombie-like horse with exposed innards and a skeletal face. It’s truly horrific. Honestly, it’s unfortunate that the other horses have to share a stable with this thing.
The decaying horse doesn’t even have the decency to be easy to find, either. Then you could at least tell the horses “I adopted a stray in need.” No, chances are you farmed treasure goblins for days just to find this guy. You brought him into this world knowingly, and you’re responsible for it now.
4Scosglen Barding
Wanna drive a moose? Well, you can’t, but you can dress a horse up as a moose and pretend. Thanks to the Scosglen barding armor, your horse can cosplay as other animals. This skin covers so much of the horse that it could’ve been its own mount, but this works well enough.

To get the moose armor, you’ll need to start farming enemies and chests in the Scosglen region.Helltides can help a lot with their massive drop rates, so attempt to farm on higher world tiers whenever possible. After that, good luck, and happy hunting.
3Treasure Beast Barding
World bosses have their own unique cosmetic drops, and the treasure beast barding is among them. It drops from the world boss Avarice the Gold Cursed, but it is by no means a guaranteed drop. Between that andthe boss’s rare and easily missable spawn times, this can be a very difficult piece to acquire.
The set itself decorates your horse in black armor, gold trim, and two massive demon horns. It doesn’t look like the horse can see in this outfit, but it also seems to understand how cool it is to not care.
2Striped Steppe Mount
It’s a zebra! Don’t you want to give this handsome and beautiful creature a home? This is the most not-a-horse horse that you’re able to get outside of horse armors, and the literal dead. That uniqueness alone helps it stand apart from a dozen other horse recolors.
To obtain the striped steppe mount, you will need to start farming every and any enemy and chest in the Dry Steppes region. Raze the area to the ground and make the demons fear you; all in the name of a zebra.
1Spectral Charger Mount
The spectral charger mount is the best for three reasons. First, it just looks good. The truly unique horses naturally stand out the most, and it doesn’t get much better than a ghost horse. Second, the charger is a mount skin, so you can also equip it with horse armor. Want a ghost moose? Go for it.
Finally, the spectral charger is incredibly easy to find, and you might’ve found it before you even got access to mounts. It’s a mildly rare drop from completing time legion events. Legion chests drop a lot of loot, and you’re able to open up to three chests in each event, so getting this mount in a reasonable amount of time is sincerely doable.
