Redfallis an Arkane game, it shares the same DNA with many other Arkane games, but in particular, Dishonored. However, unlike Dishonored, Redfall suffers from many different types of discrepancies. These can be with the game’s story, the game’s enemies, the game’s design, and even with the characters and gameplay.

There are way too many things that don’t make sense in this game, and it’s so blatantly obvious from the moment you take your first step into its game world. There is a lot to take in, and there is a lot to point out. Here are some of the things in Redfall that just do not make sense!
10Redfall’s Character Progression Is Locked To Host Only
This makes no sense in the weirdest way possible. If you’replaying Redfall with a friend, and you enjoy the game so much that you want to give it a try on your own in a few solo missions, you’ll have to start the game again from the very beginning.
So, if you want to keep everything, you just have to stick to playing co-op with that same friend that you played with, or lose everything. This happens because the game doesn’t have individual character progression for co-op.
9Why Do The Vampires Let Their Food Die?
Redfall’s story has one glaring issue. The game’s writing makes a habit of letting you know that the cultists are essentially cattle for their Vampire overlords to feed upon. They promise the cultists superpowers in exchange for their blood, and that’s a trade they agree on. However, every time you go out of the safehouses, you are greeted by hordes of cultists just waiting outside to fight you.
Why would the Vampires basically let you kill all of their food? If they’ve figured out that you’re taking hundreds of them out every time you’re around town, shouldn’t they just lock them up and keep them safe so they don’t run out of food? The Vampires can’t leave the town of Redfall, mind you, so they have no other source of food other than these humans stuck here. It makes no sense!
8You Punch People In The Butt To Do Stealth Kills
There is some sort of a stealth system in Redfall, and in this stealth system, it feels a step away from anything we’re used to from Arkane. Dishonored and Deathloop have fantastic and creative stealth animations, but here, things don’t look quite as natural.
You’re just supposed to crouch walk until you see an enemy, and then punch them in the butt to take them down. This is a very bare-bones system, but it also doesn’t make sense in terms of immersion. Why would that of all things be a stealth takedown?
7There Are Only Four Bosses
Of course, this is a live service game, so the intention is to make sure this game is up and running for years to come. However, the base game has only four bosses, which is a considerably small number when you think about it.

The story can be finished quite quickly if you run through it, especially sincethe enemy AI is not the most impressive we’ve seen. However, a lack of bosses means there is barely anything to look forward to in the game world. It’s also very easy to kill them, so the boss fights don’t pack much of a punch. They’re just hyped up and then result in very little.
6Why Are The Cutscenes A 3D Slide Show?
The cinematics in this game are not cinematics at all - instead, they are a 3D slideshow that shows different characters standing in one place while the camera pans around them.
This is interesting because, at the start of the game, there is a nice 2D animated cutscene, but that style is never used again. The thing that makes no sense here is the switch up in style and then leaving it feeling a little bland.
5Vampires Can’t Attack You If You Hide Behind Boxes or Cars
This is a gameplay bug for sure, but it’s something that makes absolutely no sense. Vampires simply cannot get to you if you hide behind an object.
At first, they get confused, and keep attacking the box while being away from you, then they just forget you were there. This makes zero sense, even for weaker enemy AI.
4The Watchers Just… Don’t Watch…
There is a specific enemy type in this game known as The Watchers. Their job is to be lookouts, and make sure that no one attacks or infiltrates the Vampire gods as they do their evil corporate bidding. However, these guys are pretty bad at watching anything, it seems.
They only look in one straight line, which is visible from a mile away as they have a laser pointing towards the direction they’re staring at. You could literally be standing next to it, and they simply will not react to you.
3The Sun Is Blocked But There’s Still Sunlight
This is an art style issue that we simply do not understand. At the start of the game, The Vampire goddess known as Black Sun blocks out the Sun so there’s no sunlight in Redfall. However, you’re almost always going to be greeted by sunlight.

There is blaring sunlight, some decent god rays, and a whole lot of brightness during the daytime in-game. It’s pretty much a given that this world is littered with Vampires, so why is there always sunlight?
2The Vampires Don’t Care If The Sun Is Out
Continuing on from the previous point, Vampires in this game don’t really care about sunlight. It seems these pale monstrosities want to get some tanning in, because they can always be found hanging out on rooftops during the daytime, while the town of Redfall has blinding sunlight shining at their faces.
Vampires are creatures afraid of direct sunlight, and yet the UV rays are pulsating in Redfall but they simply don’t care. This particular part made no sense, especially since blocking out the sun is such a huge story beat.
1The Cars Blow Up If You Shoot At The Window
Finally, the one thing that has been the most amusing to us in Redfall’s overall gameplay, is the cars exploding. In most games, you’d have to drown a car in at least two mags worth of bullets, but that’s not the case in Redfall at all.
You see, all you have to do is shoot the car three to four times in its windshield or windows, and bam, you have got yourself an explosion. The cars don’t really move when they explode - it’s just a ball of flame, smoke, and noise that surrounds it for a second until it’s just a burning wreck.
