Redfallis one of the most divisive games in recent memory. In the build-up to the launch, there was some excitement surrounding the open-world title, especially as it comes from much-loved developers Arkane Studios. Yet, on release, not everybody was blown away by the finished article. Most players had a lot of complaints.

However, not everything about the title is bad. The game certainly has its merits, particularly when it comes to gunplay and the environment. Plus, it can be pretty fun when playing with friends. The following changes could even turn it into a great game.
8More Weapon Customization
There are very few weapon customization options in Redfall. You can alter the color of your gun and choose its stake attachment. So, only cosmetic changes can be made to your weapon. However, most ofthe best weapons in the gamecome with different attachments, such as silencers and various fancy sights.
It would be better if you could freely add or remove these things from any weapon. That would allow you to tailor your weapon to how you play. After all, currently, if you’re a more stealthy player, you just have to hope you happen to pick up a weapon that comes with a suppressor. This shouldn’t be something that is just down to chance.
7Quicker Way To Get Around
The open world in Redfall is split into two maps, which aren’t the largest in gaming history, but it still takes some time to get around. One of the main reasons it takes so long is that the protagonist has to go everywhere on foot.
There is fast travel in the game, but if you don’t want to teleport all over the map, you’re in for a lot of lengthy walks or runs. Some sort of vehicle to get around would be a handy addition to the game. Perhaps the protagonist could fill up one of those fire trucks with gas.
6Better Enemy AI (Particularly Humans)
One of the biggest problems with the game is the AI. While they do plenty of damage, they’re fairly dumb, especially the humans. Rarely do they get behind cover, attempt to flank you, or do anything that someone would instinctively do in combat.

Instead, they often just stand out in the open and shoot. Sometimes they recklessly run at you or just look around aimlessly. And their awareness is so bad, making it easy to sneak around them. It makes combating them less fun, as it isn’t very satisfying to get the better of these fools.
5More Interesting Skill Trees
Each of the protagonists has their own skill trees. The trees mostly revolve around boosting their three signature abilities. Unfortunately, in most cases, those boosts don’t significantly impact those abilities to any noticeable degree. And the rest of the tree mostly revolves around having more ammo and protecting yourself or your allies.
So, there isn’t a load of brilliant skills for you to pick up, meaning leveling up isn’t as exciting as it should be. Extra abilities on the tree or more significant boosts to the ones you already have would be an improvement. At least you canstill make some useful builds.
4Less Frequent Rook Attacks
Partway through the adventure, the game introduces an interesting feature where if you cause too many problems, the vampire gods will send a destructive Rook monster after you. It’s essentially the vampire version of Grand Theft Auto’s wanted system.
The feature is actually a good one, as chaos ensues every time a rook arrives. Yet, the bar that signifies when the Rook is going to appear fills up a bit too quickly, meaning the attacks aren’t as sporadic as they should be. If they were rarer, they would feel more special.
3Allow You To Return To Redfall Commons
Despite being an open-world game, Redfall locks you out of a large part of it mid-way through the game. This occurs when you leave the Redfall Commons area to go to Burial Point. Thankfully, the game warns you that you won’t be able to return, but it’s a shame you may’t.

After all, the place has plenty of areas to explore and side missions to locate. To find and do everything, you will have to take a break from the main story for some time to search everywhere. It’s an unnecessary part of the experience.
2More Varied Missions
One thing you expect from Arkane Studios is varied and unique missions, as seen in most of their other titles. However, in Redfall, the missions are pretty basic. Most of them revolve around going somewhere and picking something up.
On the odd occasion, you get an interesting puzzle, such as themissing dolls search from The Heroes Of Echoes mission. But that is too rare, meaning a lot of the missions are repetitive. It doesn’t help that the story isn’t very compelling, which makes the uninspiring objectives easier to notice.
1Enable Matchmaking
Like most games, Redfall is better when you’re playing with others, as the game seems to have been designed with co-op in mind. Despite this, there’s no matchmaking in the game, meaning you’re able to’t be paired up with random people online.
So, if you don’t know any Redfall players, you’re forced to go solo. This is a big shame since it locks out plenty of people from seeing the best side of the title. Giving everyone the chance to experience co-op would improve the title’s reputation a little bit.
