The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomdoesn’t skimp on giving you plenty of currencies to earn and spend with various vendors across Hyrule. From collecting Bubbul Gems toselling off your valuable items for Rupees, there are a number of collectibles and currencies that each have distinct uses.

However, all currencies were not created equal. Each collectible has a varying degree of rarity and utility that are worth considering before blindly collecting them all (unless that’s your thing). Upgrading your health, armor, and arsenal are all essential to survival in Tears of the Kingdom, so take note of the currencies that accomplish that and more.
10Sleepover Tickets
Sleepover Tickets are a reward you can receive when you collect enough Pony Points or by helping Addison with the never-ending battle against signs. Their purpose is exactly what you’d imagine, asSleepover Tickets entitle Link to a free night’s rest in a regular stable bed.
While not particularly glamorous, the night’s rest will restore Link’s fatigue from his adventures and serve as an emergency source of healing. Unfortunately, there’s nothing else to use these on, but it’s certainly worth taking advantage of the free night’s rest if you’re poking around a stable anyway.
9Star Fragments
If you enjoy using Amiibos to gain access to special items, thenStar Fragmentswill be of particular interest to you. Star Fragments are necessities when it comes to upgrading the special armor you’ll receive from certain Amiibos, and each armor piece will require at least one Star Fragment to upgrade.
These exceptionally rare materialsserve as upgrade currency and double as excellent fusion fodder if you need to unleash some beams of light in a dark area. You’ll need to keep your eyes peeled to find these; keep an eye on the skies and look out for glittering Star Fragments falling from the sky. They are hard to acquire, but worth the effort.
8Pony Points
The Pony Points system offers far more to Link than just a free night’s sleep, as these willgrant access to numerous rare or exclusive rewards. Some of these fantastic bonuses include the Melanya Bed, extra horse slots, saddles, bridles, discounts, andEndura Carrots.
In addition to the fabulous variety of cosmetics and other benefits for collecting Pony Points, they are also easy to earn. You need only approach a new stable for the first time and talk to the stable clerk to earn a Pony Point on the spot.
Explore Hyrule and make a point to stop at each stable you spot to take advantage of these excellent rewards.
7Crystallized Charges
Crystallized Charges are a rare,Zonaitematerial thatcan be exchanged at Crystal Refineries to increase the amount of charge in Link’s Energy Cell.Increasing your Energy Cell capacity will allow you to lengthen the duration that Zonaite devices will operate for you.

These permanent upgrades are exceptionally valuable for navigating the world with boats, cars, and any other mode of transportation you can build. Essentially, Crystallized Charges are like stamina boosts for these devices, allowing them to take you further distances.
While it may not seem necessary early on, more complex creations will utilize more Zonai devices, thus increasing your need for a large Energy Cell capacity.
6Poes
Poes are adorable little blue wisps often found in groups of ten to 20 in The Depths. In order to actually use these rare collectibles, you’ll need to alsolocate Bargainer Statues, which offer rare items in exchange for Poes.
The first statue can be found in Purah’s lab area on the bottom floor and can be accessed once you progress Purah and Robbie’s quests enough to gather data from The Depths. From there, you’ll need to locate further statues yourself or pay this original Bargainer Statue a set amount of Poes to reveal the locations of other statues.
This is the only way to acquire the special Dark Armor Set, which offers resistance to Gloom, an incredibly valuable effect, making it one ofthe best armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom.
5Zonaite
Zonaite is an incredibly flexible exchange item as it is primarilyused as a currency to acquire other Zonai artifacts, includingZonai Chargesand Crystallized Charges. Zonaite comes in regular and Large forms, with the latter simply being worth multiple of the regular version.
It’s best to save up your Zonaite to eventually spend on Crystallized Charges since they offer permanent upgrades. Zonai Charges can be exchanged to gather more Zonai Devices or used to recharge your Energy Cell, but skipping the temporary boosts to go for the Energy Cell upgrade is worth it.
4Korok Seeds
Korok Seeds are incredibly numerous, but also difficult to find if you don’t keep an eye out for them. There are various short puzzles that reward Korok seeds, from reuniting Koroks and their friends to simply looking under the right rock, and once you collect a few, you’ll need to return to Hestu to exchange them.

Hestu offers to upgrade your weapon, shield, or bow capacity by one for each exchange, with an increasing Korok Seed cost for further space expansions. Carrying more gear on your person will reduce the need to make restocking trips, and also give you more flexibility when approaching different enemies.
3Lights of Blessing
Lights of Blessing are awarded to Link each time you complete a shrine out in the vast world of Hyrule. Individually, these little lights aren’t particularly helpful but gather four of them, andyou can exchange them at Goddess Statues for either a Heart Container or Stamina Vessel.
While choosing Hearts or Stamina is completely up to your play style, each one grants incredible benefits to Link. As a rule, Stamina is more useful if you want to explore Hyrule, as it will lengthen your glides and allow you to climb higher.
Heart Containers are more useful if you find yourself dying often, or using tons of healing items to keep yourself alive.
2Bubbul Gems
Bubbul Gems are incredibly rare items dropped by Bubbulfrogs, often found hiding in caves. Bubblfrogs themselves are easy enemies to defeat, as one shot should do the trick.
However, they are much more difficult to locate, as you must search numerous caves to find them.
Once you gather some Bubbul Gems, then you’ll need to locate a special merchant named Koltin to exchange them. Once you meet him in the northeast near Woodland Stables in Eldin and follow him, you’ll be able to exchange Bubbul Gems for unique armor sets, like the Mystic Set and various special masks.
1Rupees
Rupees are simply the most useful currency type in Tears of the Kingdom, in large part due to their flexibility. You’ll need Rupees for almost everything, whether you’re buying ingredients to cook, or fusion materialsto craft the best weapons in the game.
Almost every vendor in Hyrule deals in Rupees, so there’s simply no better way to ensure you may acquire anything you may need. There are also a few armor and accessory shops across Hyrule that offer essential armor sets for Rupees.
If you want to cross the coldest tundras and hottest deserts Hyrule has to offer, then get your hands on plenty of Rupees to buy the protective armor sets first and foremost.
