How Do You Make Custom Crops?
In Year Two, you’re introduced toVinnie, the three-headed plant atTakakura’s housewho,once you’ve befriended him, will make you several dozenhybrid crop seedsif you give himtwo basic seeds.
And while these dosell for a good amount of gold, you can take things one step further bybreeding your hybrid crops together, which, when done correctly, will result in acustom crop.
You’ll need every hybrid crop to discover all the custom crops, so check out our Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Lifehybrid crop guidefor more info on those.
Once you’ve found awinning combination, you’ll see a shortanimation of Vinnie eating the seedsto know you’re correct.
Vinnie will then tell you that he’smade something rare, and you’ll be shown aphoto of the crop fully grownto see what it’ll look like once you harvest each of your Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life custom crops.

Understanding Custom Crop Genetics
There’s a little bit of math and science behind it, but the Story of Seasons A Wonderful Lifecustom crops follow a formularegardless of which specific crop you’re making.
Like your second-generation hybrid seeds haveparent seeds, so do the third-generation crops. Except, instead of baseseeds (like Tomatoes and Turnips together making a Turnmato), you’ll now be breeding your hybrid crops (like said Turnmato mixed with another hybrid crop).
Your second-gen hybrids havetwo parent plants, and the next step in the crop family tree sees thethird generation hybrids have four parent plantsnow, with basic seeds as grandparent plants and hybrid seeds for parent plants.
You’llnever cross crops with fruit tree fruits, so save your fruit tree spoils for customfruit tree cropsand make custom fruit trees.
This means that eachcustom crop getsfour seed geneswhen making your third-generation seeds. This isusuallyfour different seeds, but you will occasionally finddoubled plant genesin your custom crops.
For example,Custom Crop 20is what results when you breed aMelomelo, which is made with aMelonand aWatermelon, with aCarberry, which hasCarrotandStrawberrygenes. The resulting custom crop will have Melon, Watermelon, Carrot, and Strawberry genetics that make up your custom crop.
Youwon’t use any blue plantsin these recipes, though, sosave your Trick Blue Flowersfor high-value second-generation hybrid crops.

All Custom Crop Recipes And How To Make Them
It can quickly become confusing if you’re not keeping track of which third generation crops you’ve unlocked, but that’s where our Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life custom crop guide comes in.
