You’ll go against him in chapters two, four, and six, and he’ll have a new set of armor and abilities each time. The first fight against John Watson will be quite straightforward, but they’ll get complicated as the game progresses.
Chapter Two John Watson Fight Guide
It’ll take you quite a while to get past the first chapter, butyou’ll have to go against John Watson for the first time as soon as chapter two starts. Dr. Bacon will tell you what you need to do next, and you’ll be asked to dive underwater to continue the chapter. Although, he’ll be waiting in the water as soon as you dive.
The game gives you awarning of this boss fight startingwhen everyone is having a party at Bancho Sushi during chapter one.
You’ll see someone looking at them through a pair of binoculars, and the boss fight starts the next day.
During this fight, John Watson will have a Grenade Launcher in his hands. Every few seconds, you’ll see a trajectory appear from his character to yours, which means that he’s about to shoot a grenade. As soon as you see this, start swimming directly in the upward direction to easily dodge the grenade.
If he’s too close to you,he will simply keep dashing into you until you’re farther away. Since this is quite early in the game, you won’t have amazing weapons, but the boss also won’t have as much health. attempt to keep shooting him as fast as you can whenever you’re not getting attacked. Eventually, he’ll enter phase two.
The only difference between the two phases is thatWatson launches three grenades instead of one at a time.
The second phase will need you to hit him for far lesser than the first one. Once you defeat him,he’ll create a hole in the floor that’ll let you go down easily.
Chapter Four John Watson Fight Guide
In chapter four, you’ll have to go inside anAbandoned Cave and solve a puzzleto get the key to the Glacier Passage. Although, while you’re trying to go back, you’ll have to maneuver around a bunch of Gadons that you may’t kill. This trope of not being able to use your gun continues when you get out of the cave and get greeted by John Watson once again.
This time, he’ll be wearing animpenetrable armor that won’t be affected by the bullets of any of your weapons. Although, you’ll still have a couple of ways to defeat him. The general idea is that you have to use the missiles shot from his armor against him, and here’s how you’re able to do that:
You only have to hit himthree or four times if you’re using the Baseball Batsince you deal quite a lot of damage.
On the other hand, if you run the bombs back into his armor, you’ll have to hit him many more times.
Dash attack is the only attack that’scommon between the fight in chapter two and chapter four. Apart from this and the bomb attack, Watson can also charge a hook in his armor and throw it directly at your location. This hook deals quite a lot of damage, so it’s recommended to move in any direction as soon as you see him charging.
John Watson has two phases this time as well, andhe can shoot a bunch of mines during the second phase. These mines stay still in the water for a few seconds before exploding, and they’re quite easy to dodge. Although, the fun part is that you can deflect these mines back at him using the Baseball Bat as well.
Keep in mind that if you hold the melee button with the Baseball Bat,it can charge in a couple of seconds.
If you hit a bomb or a mine with a charged attack, they’re guaranteed to run into Watson.
After you defeat him this time, he’ll give you amechanical part that’ll help you create anew diving suitlater on in the story.
Chapter Six John Watson Fight Guide
You’ll meet John Watson for the final time in Chapter Six, but this won’t really be a fight. This time, he’ll be inside animpenetrable submarine that doesn’t take damage even if you run the missiles into it. The only thing you have to do during this fight is dodge a couple of his attacks until he charges a big one.
While charging this, the walls near the Control Room will tear open andKronosaurus will come out. This enemy will gobble up Watson’s submarine and explode it on a wall. You’ll then have to defeat Kronosaurus before you can progress the story.
