It is a trip down memory lane for longtime wrestling fans, and it includes quite a few match types. You’ll find match types familiar to anyone who has ever heard of wrestling and match types that All Elite Wrestling has made famous. There’s no shortage of wrestler combinations and match types for you to put on 5-Star outings.

103-Way Match

Also known in the wrestling world as a Triple Threat Match, this one is just plain frustrating. Three wrestlers go at it in a winner-takes-all match-up. There’s always going to be a third party you have to worry about when trying to go for a pin or submission.

If you are playing the Road to Elite mode, you’ll end up in one of these matches eventually. Outside that career mode, you should stay away if you have the choice. A 3-Way Match in AEW: Fight Forever is bound to make you angry.

91-On-1 Match

A 1-on-1 match is your typical Singles Match in wrestling. Two wrestlers step into the ring and fight until one is pinned or submitted. If you or your opponent stay out of the ring for ten seconds, you’ll be counted out. If you use a weapon, you’ll be disqualified.

This is the classic wrestling match you’ll see every week during an All Elite Wrestling broadcast. There’s nothing wrong with it, but AEW: Fight Forever has so many incredible match types that this one doesn’t quite hold a candle to them.If you want some practice, head into this match type; otherwise, have fun elsewhere.

8Casino Battle Royale (Group Suit)

The Casino Battle Royale is the AEW equivalent of a Royal Rumble from the WWE. There are fewer participants, however. In the Group Suit version, instead of it being every wrestler for themselves, groups of four wrestlers team up to take on the challenge.

You’ll see 16 wrestlers in the Group Suit variation. Four teams, each one assigned a different suit from a deck of cards, will have their members enter the ring at varying times. Work with your teammates to throw the other wrestlers over the top rope. A team can win when every other team has been eliminated, meaning any number of teammates can remain in the ring as long as they are the last person or team standing.

74-Way Match

A 4-way match, or Fatal Four Way, is a match with four participants, all fighting each other for victory. They can be extremely fun or rather annoying, depending on the circumstances. Pairing off and fighting someone is great, but you can never trust that another wrestler won’t catch you off guard.

It will definitely be an action-packed contest. And hopefully, you can take out two opponents before focusing on the third for the victory.Maybe you can get luckyand score a pinfall while the other two are occupied with their own inner-match brawl.

6Ladder Match

The Ladder Match isan iconic match type in professional wrestling. In AEW: Fight Forever, you can only do a ladder match with two participants. That takes away from some of the fun ladder matches have brought in other wrestling games.

That’s not to say you can’t have a blast in an AEW: Fight Forever ladder match. They just get pretty repetitive after a while. You can do some cool things, though. Strikes can connect with a ladder to knock it over, and you can jump off of it, or even use it as a weapon.

There are multiple match types in AEW: Fight Forever that essentially throw the rule book out the window. Falls Count Anywhere is one of them. You don’t have to worry about being counted out in this match. If you created your own arena in the game, this match is the perfect opportunity for you to explore it from the entrance ramp all the way to the ringside area.

In a Falls Count Anywhere match, as the name implies, you can win anywhere. You don’t have to be inside the squared circle to score a pinfall or submission. If you happen to toss your opponent out of the ring and land a finishing move there, there’s no need to roll them back in. Just cover them on the floor and let the referee count just as they would in a 1-on-1 match.

4Lights Out Match

All Elite Wrestling has done a wonderful job at making well-known match types fresh. The Lights Out Match is a typical no-disqualification contest, but the name comes from the lights going out to signify the end of the show. Once they come back on, though still being broadcast, the match can begin in an unsanctioned fashion with no rules.

This is the wrestling business way of making a Lights Out Match feel like a real grudge match so that anything goes and no one is held accountable for the damage they cause. In AEW: Fight Forever, you can acquirean assortment of weaponsand use them to beat your opponent all around the arena. There’s no count out or rope breaks in this one, either. Truly, the only rule is there are no rules.

3Casino Battle Royale (Solo Suit)

The Solo Suit version of the Casino Battle Royale assigns each wrestler a playing card that determines their position in the match. There are 21 wrestlers involved, with the match beginning with four and seeing the rest come out one-by-one over a short period of time.

There are no pinfalls or submissions allowed in the Casino Battle Royale. It is every wrestler for themselves as you look to throw your opponents over the top rope. In this match, the last person in the ring wins. This fast-paced match type can be a real test of endurance.

22-On-2 Match

Tag team fightingand wrestling is an art form. In a 2-on-2 match, teams go at it with the rules of a regular 1-on-1 match. If you want your teammate to take your place, go over to them as they stand on the ring’s apron in your team’s corner, and tag them in. Use the moments after to your advantage to land some double-team moves that will damage the opposition more.

The one thing to watch out for is when you are going for a pin or submission maneuver. The opponent’s teammate has a small window to enter the ring and break it up, prolonging the match. If you are the partner on the outside, it is your job to get in the ring and prevent the breakup of the match finish. The best teams know how to isolate one opponent and get the win.

1Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match

The Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match is the stuff of legend. It is one of the most brutal match types in all of professional wrestling and makes its way into AEW: Fight Forever. The ring ropes are replaced with barbed wire and there are wooden boards wrapped in it placed in the corner. If you or your opponent make contact with any of it, it explodes.

After 120 seconds, a massive explosion shakes the entire ring and deals huge damage to both wrestlers. This one can be really bloody if you have the setting turned on and it’d dangerously fast. It is perhaps the most unique match type any wrestling game has ever delivered, and there is a ton of replay value in it with the amount of wrestlers available in the game.
