The Coop: Chickens And Ducks

When you first begin Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, your Coop can houseup to eight birds. There’s no limit on how many of each bird or sex you can have, so long as you don’t have more than eight.

Birds in the Coop will need to eatBirdseed, which can bepurchased from the Ledgerfor100g per bag. Both chickens and ducks eat this, soone bag feeds both kinds of birds.

When it arrives, head into the Coop tospread some Birdseed in the feeding trough in the middle of the room. After filling it the first time, be sure torefill the bowlto keep your birds fed and happy.

You use thesame amount of feed refilling the feed box no matter how low it’s gotten. You’ll see visibly less feed in there as the birds get it, and eventually, it’ll be empty again.

You cansave Birdseedby onlyrefilling the feed box when it’s completely emptybecause of this. For more helpful tips like this, check out this guide!

Once you’ve named your new birds, you canpick up your birds to talk to or snuggle them. This allows you tocheck their health, as well asboost their affectiontoward you.

Thebell outside the Coopcan be rung tocall all your birds outside at once.

When space is beginning to feel cramped for your bird buddies, you canupgrade the Coopin the Ledger for100,000g. This upgrade willdoublethe size of the building, allowing you to keepup to 16 birds.

Everything You Need To Know About Eggs

As soon as your birds arefully grown, the females will begin tolay eggsaround the farm. If youkeep the birds inside, you’re most likely to find theminside the Coop directly under the birds.

You can do this bypicking up the birdand seeing if there’s an Egg on the ground beneath it.

Other birds may also come sit on the Egg as you’re holding the bird that laid it, but you can move them off it the same way.

Otherwise, your birds maylay their eggs outsidearound the Farm. Ifbirds are allowed outside, when you eitherpick them up or call them back inside, you’ll find Eggs on the ground on the farm.

When allowed outside, you cancall the birds back inside, which will give you aclearer view of where Eggs are. As birds may also end up inside the fenced area with your Livestock, be sure tocheck around for all the Eggs.

You can useboth Eggs and Fertilized Eggs in recipesthat call for an Egg. There’s alsono distinction between Chicken and Duck eggs.

Keep A Male And Female Bird To Get Fertilized Eggs

When you haveat least one male and one female of the same variety of bird, you’re liable to receiveFertilized Eggsinstead of the regular Eggs. These arepinkand sell for a bit more than normal Eggs.

If you have anopen spot in the Coop, you may then choose toplace the Fertilized Egg in the Incubatorinside the Coop. After a few days, the egg hatches into anew baby bird.

You’ll becalled to the Coopto meet your new friend, be told the sex, and give it a name. After a fewmoredays, thatchick will grow into a matured birdlike the others in your Coop, and can then begin laying eggs if it’s a female bird.

You canrepeat this as many times as desiredto increase your bird population, but youcannot hatch new birds when the Coop is full.

The Barn: Cows, Sheep, And Goats

When you first begin playing Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, your Barn can houseup to eight animals.

However, keep in mind thatthe horse takes up a slot in the Barnwith its feeding trough, meaning you’re only able to haveseven animalsbefore you upgrade.

These animals eatFodder, which can either bepurchased from the Ledgerorgrownin the field byplanting Fertilizerand thenusing the Sickle to harvest grown grass, which automatically becomes Fodder in the Barn’s chute.

Like the Coop, you can choose toupgrade the Barnby paying120,000gfor it in the Ledger. This upgrade also doubles the size, allowing forup to 15 Cows, Sheep, and Goatswith allowance for your horse’s trough.

There’s abell in the fieldthat will call all your animals out into the fenced-in area of the farm.Let animals out often to keep them happy, but be sure tobring them inside during inclement weather.

It’s often easier to refill feeding troughs when the animals are outside, as they’re quite likely to be in the way if everyone is inside.

How To Care For Livestock

Unlike their bird neighbors, livestock require a bit more maintenanceto reap the rewards of keeping them with their variousanimal products.

For starters, you cantalk to your livestockandsnuggle themregularly to keep them in good moods, asanimals with higher affection produce more or better products.

Additionally, you’ll need tobuy the Brush from Vanas soon as you can, as your animals willenjoy regular brushingsthat work towardincreasing their happiness.

There’s achalkboard on the wall inside the Barnthat tells you precisely how much each animal likes living on your farm.

When it comes tocollecting animal products, though, each animal is a bit different.Cows and Goatswill need to bemilkedusing theMilker, given to you from Takakura when you arrived.

Each day, each animal producesa few bottles of milk, with thequality of the productincreasing in a few ways. The biggest piece iskeeping your animals happyin order to keep collecting quality products.

Pregnant animals cannot be milked, but following the pregnancy, they willyield better milkfor quite some time.

This is a quick way to increase product qualityandfill out the Barn a bit more.

Meanwhile,Sheep need to have their wool shavedwith theShears. Simplywalk up to the sheep with the Shears in handand perform the action to shear them.

Sheep producedifferent color wooldepending on theirhappiness, so keep your Sheep happy to keep a steady supply of some of the best animal products you can get in A Wonderful Life.

Breed Barn Animals To Increase How Much Milk Mom Produces

There aretwo waysto breed your livestock in A Wonderful Life. The first and most important component ishaving a space available in the Barnfor the new arrival.

If someone is already pregnant with an animal that will take the final slot in your Barn, you will not be able to breed new animals until you upgrade.

If you have both amale and female of the same kind of animal, they’re liable tonaturally end up pregnant. You’ll find out about this when youspeak to your animal, or check its status on thechalkboard.

On the other hand, you’re able to alsoorder breeding for a female animalfrom theLedger. You’llpay for impregnationfrom another animal that isn’t yours, and will then need towait to find out if the pregnancy took.

When you have apregnant animal, you’ll be able tocheck on both Mom and Babybyspeaking to the animal.

Finally, when the time comes for the animal togive birth, you’ll be able to tell becauseit will have red cheeks when it’s close to giving birth.

At that time, you’ll need toisolate your animalwithin thefenced-in area inside the barn. If you take too long to do this manually, the Forest Sprites will call you over and remind you to pay attention as they do it for you.

Once isolated, an animal will give birthin a few days. The mother’s food trough ismoved into the penwith her, so be sure to keep it filled.

When thebaby is born, you’ll again be summoned back to the farm to meet and name it.

We’ve tested this, and it seemsthe sex of the baby is determined at birth. If you’d like tochangewhat you get, reloading an older savemay help in that regard.

Cows that just gave birthwill produceMother’s Milkfor a few days after, which you’ll need tomanually feed to the babyto help it grow. After those few days, thebaby maturesto a full-size animal and will live on the farm like normal.

After that, the mother cow will produce better milkfor quite some time, typicallygold in quality. It’s a good way toensure good-quality milk, so plan out your breeding schedule accordingly.

Sell Animals You Don’t Want To Clear Space

Original fans of A Wonderful Life will remember the grotesque frustration of having a Goat that no longer produced milk taking up space on the farm, or maybe you’ve got too many roosters and want more females to get more Eggs.

Well, no more do you have to let the Goat die - you cansell unwanted animalswith the tab in theLedger.

When this happens, you’ll receive a sum ofmoney relevant to the type of animal and its age, and then the animal will begone when you wake up the next day.

Animals typicallysell for half of what you paid for them.

Youcannot get that animal backonce it’s been sold, though, so be careful in your choice!
