Final Fantasy 16is one of the best action RPGs that takes adventurers into a realm full of magic, monsters, and heroism. The iconic series, popular for its graphics, story, and majestic weapons, has once againbrought the same excitementto you.

The game offers tons of sharp swords with intricate designs and incredible stats that redesign the concept of combat in the gaming world. Some of these iconic weapons, like Excalibur and Masamune, have already been featured in previous installments. Still, compared to the newer additions, even such mighty swords look like wooden toys.

Excalibur is a pristine sword with a legendary history behind it, similar in nature to the real-life mythical sword of the same name. The sword has a very plain design for a Final Fantasy game, but its high attack and stagger stats of 268 will allow you to slice through the enemies effortlessly.

You should definitely get your hands on this late-game Eikonic blade as soon as possible. However, if you are way deep into the storyline, many better alternatives are available to Excalibur. This sword is more or less only popular due to its legacy.

How to Get the Excalibur?

Prerequisite:Complete the “Blacksmith Blue’s” side quest, available during the “Out of the Shadow"main story mission, to acquire the Excalibur design draft.

You cancraftExcalibur by visiting Blackthorne at theCid’s Hideaway. To craft this Eikonic sword, you need the following items:

Brightburn is a powerful Eikonik blade you can acquire during the late game. It has an elegant design and a stylish hilt, which makes it really fun to wield this sturdy weapon. It also boasts a decent stats of 270 in attack and stagger. Brightburn can also be used as a crafting ingredient to forge Icebrand, yet another powerful Eikonik sword.

How to Get the Brightburn Sword?

Prerequisite:Initiate the “Things Fall Apart” main story quest.

You can craft Brightburn by bringing the following materials to Blackthorne:

295

Even though the Rune Blade is a weapon of common rarity in Final Fantasy 16, it is still stronger than many Eikonik swords in the game. It has a base stat of 275 that can be enhanced to 295 using the right upgrading materials. The blade has a quirky hilt design and a forked top end that looks amazing in battles.

How to Get the Rune Blade?

The Rune Blade can be acquired after completing the “Evenfall” main story quest by purchasing it for 4,000 Gil from Charon’s Toll. This blade can also be crafted at The Black Hammer using the following:

300

As the name suggests, Icebrand is a glacial Eikonic blade with an impressive 300 attack and stagger. It is one of the strangest-looking weapons in the game, and its design is one you’ll either love or hate. Visuals aside, Icebrand is a great choice for late-game scenarios. It can also be used to craft the best Eikonik sword in the game.

310

A flawless katana inspired by the sharp weapon of choice of the Samurai is undoubtedly the best option for gamers who tend to stick to realistic weapon designs, even in an over-the-top fantasy action RPG. This weapon has appeared in almost all Final Fantasy titles and is definitely a favourite. Masamune boasts a solid 310 stat in both the available categories, which is enough to take on the fiercest of enemies in the end game.

How to Get Masamune?

Masamune can be found inside a chest located in the Angry Gap region of The Shadow Coast.

315

Final Fantasy 16 Echoes of the Fallen

Everdark is the best Eikonic sword in Final Fantasy 16. It possesses 315 attack and stagger, enough to take down most of the end-game monsters, but the real reason behind its popularity among gamers is its classic gold-on-black design which makes it look really divine. Even the best swords in the game do not come close to its design and aesthetics.

How to Craft Everdark?

Prerequisite: Initiate the “Brotherhood” main story mission.

You can forge Everdark by providing the following crafting materials to Blackthorne:

320

Simple yet potent, the Defender is a common but highly sturdy sword. It has a base stat of 320 which can be upgraded to an astonishing 340 by bringing the appropriate material to Blackthorne. However, the stats are the only strong point of this sword, as it severely lacks in the design field. It resembles a regular steel sword with a basic hilt and minimal design. There are obviously many better-looking options available, but even the strongest Eikonic sword cannot match the damage-dealing capabilities of this blade.

How to Get the Defender?

The Defender can be purchased for 5000 Gil at Goetz’s Toll during the “Streets of Madness” quest.

325

Ragnarok is a rare sword in Final Fantasy 16. It has extraordinary 325 attack and stagger stats. It is one of the strongest weapons you can acquire during your first playthrough. With its incredible stats, you can cut through almost all the end-game enemies without breaking a sweat.

It has a decent blade design and a marvellous hilt, which make it really fun to swing this sword during battles.

How to Get the Ragnarok in Final Fantasy 16?

Ragnarok can be acquired as a reward for completing the “Blacksmith’s Blues IV” side quest.

375

Until the release of ‘Echoes of the Fallen’ DLC, Gotterdammerung was the most powerful weapon you can acquirein your first playthrough of Final Fantasy 16. This legendary sword was unmatched statistically. It has a ridiculous 375 stat in attack and stagger, which makes it the best weapon in the game, at least in the first run.

Unfortunately, its design is the same as the Ragnarok sword –a basic steel blade with a decent hilt– which is definitely a letdown, but its overpowered stats make up for the lack of visual aesthetics.

How to Get the Gotterdammerung?

Prerequisite: Complete all the Blacksmith’s Blues IV side quests to obtain its design draft.

You can forge the legendary Gotterdammerung by bringing the following extremely rare materials to Blackthorne:

Players who purchase and partake in ‘Echoes of the Fallen’, the first of two planned DLC expansions for Final Fantasy 16, can look forward to climbing a tower filled with tough enemies and brutal bosses. In some ways, it feels like a true ‘final dungeon’ ahead of the last main quest, given its timing within the storyline.

Of course, you’ll get some sweet rewards, as well. The second-best among them is Fallen Enforcer, a spectacular weapon that takes the first-place prize for the most powerful sword players can obtain outside of Final Fantasy Mode in New Game Plus.

How To Get The Fallen Enforcer?

Prerequisite:Purchase ‘Echoes of the Fallen’, the December 2023 DLC, either separately or as part of the package that includes the upcoming second DLC, ‘The Rising Tide’.

Once you’ve reached the Sagespire, the dungeon (and major location) in the DLC, ascend the floors until you reach Sigma - the first big boss among several. Sigma drops the Fallen Enforcer upon its defeat. Fallen Enforcer Reforged is obtained when playing through this DLC in Final Fantasy Mode.
