With the music blaring and the speed that they come at you with as frightening as ever, you will probably find yourself a bit panicked if it’s your first encounter. The enemies can destroy a low-heart Link in just a few seconds, so you will probably be interested in knowing a few key tips to make dealing with those terrifying grabbers much, much easier.
10Run For It
Seriously, just get out of there. This is especially true if you’re early on in your adventure. You may not have the ability to expend the crucial materials required to combat these things, and if you take them on, you might be drained of all your resources, if you even survive.
It’s best that beginner players make note of where the Gloom Hands spawned on the map and come back later to tackle the threat. There’s no shame in running, in fact, most more established players will have to start the fight by getting some distance anyway.
9Get To The High Ground
You’ve made the decision to take the fight to those dastardly Gloom Hands, which means you need to get up high. In a lot of Gloom Hand arenas, there will be areas that will give you a bit of height over the Gloom Hands.
That height is crucial to avoid getting grabbed, giving you the ability to fight back, and allowing you to make use of slowed-down time. You might still panic a bit, but at least you’ll have enough space to think through each move you make.
8Make Use Of AOE Attacks
One of the biggest tips every player should know is that you really need to use area of effect (AOE) attacks on the Gloom Hands. You might have already tried to take them down one by one, only to find out that those hands regenerate pretty quickly.

Coming prepared with the tools to dish out heavy AOE attacks will ensure that a fight with the Gloom Hands goes from an absolute nightmare to something much more manageable. Just be careful that you don’t wind up walloping yourself with those attacks by accident.
7Magic Rods Can Be A Big Help
Speaking of AOE attacks, a really good choice would be tohave a few Magic Rods on hand. For whatever reason, those Gloom Hands really don’t react well to being absolutely pulverized with powerful magical attacks.
The elemental effects that the different magic rods can dish out will be more than enough to turn the tide of a Gloom Hand fight. Freezing the whole group of hands makes them much easier to obliterate without worrying about wasting too many resources.
Experiment with elemental weapons and arrows to find what works best for you.
6Don’t Forget About Your Armor
It might just be the panic that is created by the Gloom Hands, but it seems that a lot of players forget about those wonderful little pieces of gloom-resistant armor they have tucked away in their inventory.A few pieces of armorlike that can make a huge difference immediately.
You likely have a piece of the Depths Armor, if not the entire thing, so throw some of that armor on to avoid that incoming gloom damage. You could also use Midna’s Helmet for both gloom resistance and some solid additional defense.
5Lynel Bows Are Just As Important
You may only have a few single-shot bows, but if you’ve been brave enough to hunt down some Lynels, chances are that you have one of their fantastic bows. With aLynel Bowfiring three arrows at once, they are the best bet for tackling Gloom Hands.
Even if you aim your shot toward a single hand, you’re still likely to at least hit one more with that same shot. Those bows become even more powerful if you buff your arrows with different items, especially if those items give off some elemental effects.
4Use Bomb Flowers
If you havea lot of Bomb Flowersto use, or just don’t mind using up some of your inventory,Bomb Flowersin tandem with a Lynel Bow will make quick work of Gloom Hands. The explosive impact is powerful and will likely hit every single hand, meaning you’ll only need a few shots to win.
They might be a bit of a rarer resource, but it’s worth it to use them up to take down those horrifying hands. If you take a moment to freeze the hands before you begin a barrage of Bomb Flowers, you’ll be victorious in no time.
3Wiggle Those Sticks
If you’re quick to react and you have a little bit of luck, you won’t find yourself being grabbed by those Gloom Hands. If it’s your first time facing them, you probably will end up grabbed at least once before you finally take them down or run away.

There is only one thing you can do when they get their hands on you and that is to wiggle the joysticks like Link’s life depends on it, because it actually does. It seems possible to take minimal or even no damage if you can wiggle those sticks fast enough to break free.
2Always Have A Few Meals On You
You should have spare meals on youthroughout the game regardless, but in this instance, you’ll want meals or elixirs that provide gloom resistance, or meals that will restore gloomed hearts. This just gives a bit more peace of mind when engaging Gloom Hands.
If you know that you have the means to heal any damage the Gloom Hands dish out, you’ll be less likely to get a bit panicked when they surprise you with a spawn. A great idea would be to mixSundelionsin with meals for a restorative property against the gloom.
1Be Prepared For What Comes After
Actually defeating the Gloom Hands is one thing, because believe it or not, the fight doesn’t just end with them. Once you manage to take out the hands, you’ll be met with a horrifying sight,a battle with Phantom Ganon.
If you waste all your healing and resources on the initial fight with the Gloom Hands, it’s probably safe to say that you’re doomed in that second phase. Always be aware that a battle with Phantom Ganon may be required in order to get some useful items.
