While voice acting in video games wasn’t always a major point of pride, a voice actor’s performance is capable of garnering incredible praise these days. Voice actors have never been better, and thanks to all of the skill they have with their voices and acting prowess, they’re seeing a ton of success.

Just because a voice actor has an incredible voice for your favorite video games doesn’t mean they aren’t also interested in taking a swing in Hollywood. Plenty of video game actors have broken into the world of film and made some big appearances that might just surprise you.
10Nolan North
When you’re a voice actor as legendary as Nolan North, it only makes sense that you’d be receiving a few offers to appear in films. He’s actually done work in both animated and live-action films over the years, and some have been for major series.
In the recentUnchartedfilm, North made a cameo as he hung out on the beach. He’s had some major roles as well, as you may have not noticed thathe voiced Raphaelin the relatively underrated 2007TMNTfilm.
9Charles Martinet
If you go and take a look at all the movies that Charles Martinet has appeared in, you might be shocked. He’s made some appearances in some shocking movies over the years, but you will certainly know of the movies he’s made his most recent appearances.
The man behind the voice of Mario made an adorable cameo inThe Super Mario Bros Movieas the kooky Giussepe. Another recent project of his wasDragon Ball Super: Super Heroin which he played the conniving Red Ribbon Army member Magenta.
8Colleen O’Shaughnessey
Whether you know it or not, you’ve almost certainly heard Colleen O’Shaughnessey’s fantastic voice work at some point. She’s in countless games and is often the voice provider forSonic’sbest friend, Miles “Tails” Prower.

Being the pick to voice Tails in the games, it only made sense that when it came time for the character to hit the big screen, she’d be one of the first choices for the role. She can also be heard in various Studio Ghibli, Disney-Pixar, and anime movies as well.
7Steve Blum
With one of the most distinct and gravelly voices in the world of voice acting, there’s always going to be a place for Steve Blum’s expertise. A constant voice for characters likeWolverineand Sub-Zero, it was only a matter of time before Steve Blum’s talents were on the big screen.
Some of his bigger voice appearances have been inthe Transformers seriesand even 2019’s Shazam. As a major voice for the games and tv series of Transformers, it’s no surprise that he found himself flexing his vocal muscles for Hollywood.
6Troy Baker
If Nolan North isn’t the most known voice actor, that moniker might have to go to Troy Baker. He’s voiced so many iconic game characters including Joel Miller inThe Last Of Us, and a ton of voices in theBatmanArkham series.
He does often appear in straight-to-video movies, but he has popped up in high-profile movies like 2011’s Real Steel where he puts in work as multiple characters. For those looking for something new to try, he was in a 2015sci-fi horror filmcalled The Phoenix Incident with a whole host of other popular voice actors.
5Tara Strong
Tara Strong is definitely in contention for the most influential female voice actor to ever do it. An entire list could cover her roles in games and television multiple times over.
She’s made plenty of appearances in television series, and even popped up in a few movies, at least in voice.
She’s done voice work for tons of movies including Studio Ghibli works, The Rugrats Movie, Minions and so much more. She was recently featured in Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 for a quick cameo, replacing Miley Cyrus in the role of Mainframe.
4Yuri Lowenthal
While Yuri Lowenthal, the famed voice ofSpider-Manand Sasuke Uchiha, also did appear in The Phoenix Incident, he recently had a brief cameo appearance in a major film that delighted all of his fans. That brief cameo was in the hit Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.
His appearance in the film was mostly just a quick little joke, but it was more than enough to pop all the fans watching in the theatre. His instantly recognizable voice and fan-favorite performance made a cameo role in the film an obvious choice.
3Cameron Monaghan
You will know Cameron Monaghan in voice and face from theStar Wars Jediseries of games, but he’s also had a thriving acting career out of games as well. He’s landed major TV roles in shows like Shameless and Gotham, but his work doesn’t stop there.

He hasn’t made too many high-profile appearances in major movies, but he was in recognizable films like Click, The Santa Clause 3, and Amityville: The Awakening. With how much skill he demonstrates in each role, you’ll probably be hoping formore Star Wars Jedi gamesin the near future.
2Christopher Judge
You’ll best know Christopher Judge as the modern voice of everyone’s favorite god-slaying dad Kratos. While he’s a fantastic actor, you might be surprised that he tends to land roles in franchises and films that are known a bit more widely for their camp.
He’s been in movies for the Stargate series, Mega Shark VS. Mecha Shark, and the wider Sharknado series. Judge even had a small role in The Dark Knight Rises, though many of his roles in bigger films are smaller.
Despite that, it’s always great to see him wherever he pops up.
1Ashley Johnson
Ashley Johnson has done a ton of great work in games, but you might know her best as Ellie from The Last Of Us. Her natural acting ability has resulted in a lot of success for her in animation, television, and film as well.
Games and television may be where she’s most at home, but she’s made appearances in large films like The Avengers, What Women Want, The Help, and When Marnie Was There. She might be easier to spot on TV, but that doesn’t mean she won’t keep popping up in movies from time to time.
