However, Red Dust can be difficult to farm, and for players less versed in Diablo 4 PvP acquiring it can be a daunting prospect. This guide will explain exactly what Red Dust is, the best ways to farm it, and what rewards you can purchase with it.
What Is Red Dust?
Red Dustis the main currency you will acquire from PvP activities. It can be gathered from zones known as theFields of Hatred. Found in both theDry SteppesandKehjistan, they are open-world areas where players are eligible to attack each other without impunity.
Hubs are considered safe zones, but when out and about, you are free to enter combat with other players, regardless of their level.
Taking part in the PvP world activities and killing enemy mobs/players will yield a currency known asSeeds of Hatred. These are very important, asthey are the only way to acquire Red Dust. Taking your Seeds to anAltar of Extractionpoint will allow you to start a ritual, converting them into Red Dust after a delay. The reason this is important is thatyou will drop your currently held Seeds upon dying or leaving the Fields of Hatred area.
Your Red Dust can be spent at NPCs in the Fields of Hatred Hubs for the following rewards:
800
1,200
Cosmetics and Mounts Vendor
30,000
40,000
75,000
85,000
100,000
3,000
Best Strategy For Farming Red Dust
While Red Dust is relatively simple to acquire on paper, other players can make it much trickier to pull off. This is becausethey can interrupt you during your Rituals of Extraction,by attacking and killing you.Once you begin a Ritual, it will notify all players in the area as to your location, often drawing them towards you. The safest way to pull off a successful ritual is togroup up with friends, as the more players around to defend you, the higher the likelihood of survival.
If you are playing solo, things might be a bit trickier, and you should besmart about timing your Rituals. Try to farm up as many Seeds as you can before traveling to an Altar, as your aim is tocomplete as few Rituals as necessary. Playing onWorld Tier Oneis also a great method, as there should be fewer players and the mobs will be less dangerous.
The best method for quickly acquiring large amounts of Seeds of Hatred is to lootBaleful Chests. These are scattered around the Fields of Hatred and will yield a large quantity of Seeds.Stay on your horseand travel around the zone, focusing on finding and safely looting these chests. Avoid contact with other players and focus on building up a big Seed supply before trying to turn them in.
While completing the PvPworld objectivesmay seem like a good idea, they are often risky, due to the increased likelihood of meeting other players.
The best time to activate an Altar of Extractionis just after another begins. This is because it will force other players to choose between your locations, and you will have less traffic coming your way, as the player at the other Altar will not be able to come and find you in time.
Scout out the area beforehand. If you see a high number of PvP kills being recorded in the local chat, you may want to try theother Field of Hatred. Playing atoff-peak timeswill also help to lower traffic. Your goal in farming Red Dust is toPvP as little as possible, as it carries inherent risk, and even if you are running a strong build, you are always susceptible to being quickly bursted down by a group of PvP killers.
