Rise of the Ronin is the newest addition to this list, taking place in the realm of mid-19th century Japan. Rise of the Ronin is an open-world RPG, focusing on the battles within the final years of Japan’s Edo period.
While not as refined as a lot of the other entries on the list, Rise of the Ronin has heart, and tackles RPG and stealth elements with a fun aesthetic. It’s worth giving a shot, and like the Zelda games, is filled with unique side missions and varied, fun characters.
Players who played the first game will definitely love Horizon Forbidden West. The game exudes vibes reminiscent of Breath of the Wild. Forbidden West adopts a more conventional approach to the genre with its gameplay mechanics, but distinguishes itself through its world design, story, and premise.
The aesthetic of Forbidden West may differ from the Zelda games, as Aloy battles machines, using different weapons for different opponents. However, the overall experience evokes some Zelda vibes, and is very enjoyable.

The core gameplay is fairly similar to most of the Zelda series, with exploration and item-based puzzle-solving as players progress forward. Kena does prefer a staff over a sword for combat, but that little adjustment shouldn’t be too tough.
Tunic is quite clearly a heavily Zelda-inspired game. The game seems to be heavily modeled over the early generation of Zelda games, allowing players to be transported into a wonderful, magic filled fantasy world.

In the mood for a more intense and violent version of a Zelda game? Ghost of Tsushima might be the one. The world is stunning, and the Japanese setting adds an extra layer of beauty and violence. Unlike the Zelda games, this game is considered to be more of a stealth game.
Stepping into the shoes of former samurai Jin Sakai, players must wage war to try and free his land from the Mongol invasion. Anyone hoping to try out a game that mixes stealth, fast-paced action and a hard-hitting narrative will love this game.
Skyrim might be on pretty much every system in existence at this point, but there’s a reason for that. It’s a solid game that pretty much anyone can jump into and have fun. Additionally, players can always go back to it after a few years, and manage to have a whole new experience with different play styles.
Players can explore this massive world and complete hundreds of unique quests at their own leisure. Like the modern Zelda games, anyone playing doesn’t even need to tackle the main story. That can basically be the very last thing you choose to do.
If players are looking for something in the style of the Zelda games, set within modern times, the closest anyone will get is No More Heroes 3. The story isn’t hoping to be reminiscent of Zelda in the slightest, but the gameplay andopen-world adventuringwon’t feel too dissimilar.
The story follows the infamous Travis Touchdown, an assassin who gets in way over his head in a fun and wild adventure. It’s best to go into this game blind, and the only thing anyone needs to know is that it’s a bizarre, lovable, and action-packed game.
Anyone who still hasn’t played Star Wars Jedi: Survivor should give it a go, as it’s well worth giving a playthrough on the PS5. It has massive planets to explore, fun combat, and an additional parkour-like traversal system that helps players get around.
ThisCal Kestisadventure changes the standard hack-and-slash gameplay previously seen in the series, which now becomes something much more strategic. Players who have stopped to plan an attack against a group of enemies in the Zelda games will need to do the exact same in this game.
Any fans of the throwback style of gaming that’s been getting a revival lately, will enjoy Hyper Light Drifter. It’s a game that was clearly modeled after Zelda, allowing players to start the game with a simple sword, but then making them earn new options as they progress forward.
The world is a thrill to explore, and large chunks of it will feel reminiscent of the older 2D Zelda games. The story might take some time to uncover, but once it happens, players will have a fulfilling experience from start to finish.
