Call of Duty’s crossover event withThe Boysis in full swing. By the time you read this, Starlight and Homelander’s bundles will be available with Black Noir’s dropping on Thursday. It’s not the cosmetics members of The Seven have brought to the game CoD’s players have taken issue with though, it’s their powers.
While you’ll need to buy the bundles if you want to look like your favorite heroes from The Boys inModern Warfare 2andWarzone, their powers can be found via Temp-V field upgrades. One of those upgrades, which again, anyone can find and use, will give you Homelander’s laser vision, and some of those who have felt its wrath really aren’t happy about it.

The best example of just how overpowered CoD’s laser eyes are is showcased in the clip below. With the field upgrade prepped, the player happens upon an unsuspecting rival who likely had the upper hand had it not been for what was to come. The laser-eye-equipped player proceeds to hover a few feet off the floor and obliterates their rival with a short sharp blast of light from their face.
Left behind is a smear of blood and a few severed limbs. Brutal stuff, much like what you’d see in an episode of The Boys, and yeah, people don’t like it. It’s not just the laser vision players are complaining about either. Other Boys-inspired field upgrades like Charge Jump and Teleport haven’t gone other well either. The former allows you to leap across the map, almost as if you were flying, while the latter lets you dash forward at lightning speed, a bit like A-Train although I haven’t confirmed if you may use the upgrade to run right through an opponent.
One of the main throughlines in The Boys is a battle to allow superheroes to go to war, so having these powers in CoD actually links to the show really well. A lot of you don’t seem to appreciate the symmetry, though. In fairness, most players don’t want the powers to be removed altogether but point out that including them in MW2 and Warzone’s base modes might have been a little short-sighted. Many are asking they be moved to an LTM so those who don’t want to be surprised by an enemy appearing next to them only to be blown to bits by their laser eyes can avoid such a brutal ending.
