Pokemon Gois introducing Shadow Raids to the game, a new variation of Raid where you have to take on Shadow Pokemon controlled by Team Go Rocket. They’re ringing in this new feature with a new in-game event, titled theRising Shadows Event.

The event has a duration of about a week, so you’ll want to make sure to log in and participatefrom Monday, May 22, at 10am local time to Sunday, May 28, at 8pm local time.With several Team Go Rocket-themed features making up this event, this isn’t one you’ll want to pass up on.

What Are Shadow Raids?

This new type of Raid tasks you with grouping up and taking down different Shadow Pokemon in the game. Unlike standard Raids, this special Raid variant canonly be attempted in person,disabling the use of Remote Raid Passes.

Additionally, Shadow Pokemon that you’re battling against in these Raids will slowlyincrease their attacking and defensive stats as the Raid progresses.This stat increase, known as growing enraged, will only occur in Three-Star and Five-Star Shadow Raids.

You and your allies can briefly lower the stats of the Shadow Raid Pokemon through the use ofPurified Gems, a new in-game item obtained byacquiring several Shadow Shards. you’re able to earn Shadow Shards by defeating different members of Team Go Rocket.

Like other Raids currently in the game, the successful completion of Shadow Raids will reward you different in-game items and achance to catch the Shadow Pokemonthat you have defeated.

If multiple people in your Raid group use Purified Gems, it willfurther decrease the Shadow Raid Pokemon’s stats.

Collectively using enough Purified Gems willsubdue an enraged Shadow Raid Pokemon,returning its stats to back to what they were prior to enraging.

Event Shadow Raids

Throughout the Rising Shadows Event, you can expect to see anincrease in Shadow Raidsthroughout the world. This includes both One-Star and Three-Star Shadow Raids, taking up the majority of active Raids globally.

Additionally, from10am local time to 8pm local time on Saturday, May 27,all active Raids will be Shadow Raids. Below you can find all Shadow Pokemon you will see in this new type of Raid, appearing frequently throughout the duration of this event.

Shadow Mewtwocan be found in Five-Star Shadow Raids fromSaturday, May 27 at 10am local time to Sunday, May 28 at 8pm local time.

You will have the chance of encountering and catchingShiny Shadow Mewtwofor the first time during this two-day window.

Event Bonus

For the Rising Shadows Event, there will only be one bonus that is active throughout its duration. This is anincrease in the number of Team Go Rocket members foundat either PokeStops or in balloons.

Take advantage of this to rapidly acquire Mysterious Components, as well as a chance to receive the new Shadow Shard item.
