Diablo 4’searly access launch is finally here and, despite someintial teething issues for PlayStation players, things seem to be running relatively smoothly. However, there is one issue that many players seem to be running into - something a little less technical and more of a design flaw.

On your travels in Diablo 4, you’ll encounter a variety of different Gems that can be used to used to enhance your gear with extra damage, resistances, life, and so on. In fact, you’ll come across so many gems that you’ll find that they quickly build up in your inventory, and a lot of players are already sick of having to empty them out to stop them from taking up too much space.

You might be thinking that this isn’t that much of an issue, yet a post from u/AndrewWOz on the official Diablo 4 subreddit beggingBlizzardto add a Gem Pouch has racked up a lot of support over the past few days. They claim that adding a gem pouch is “literally the only thing I’d change right now” and that they’re sick of Gems “taking up half my inventory slots.”

“A full complement of gems quickly fills up nearly a third of your bag capacity, and it is really noticeable once gems start dropping,” explains u/AndrewWOz. “I just don’t trust warping back to down mid dungeon when there’s a chance the dungeon will be reset when you get back to it. They already have a separate tab for elixirs and quest items, it would be a huge QOL improvement if they added one for gems.”

Similarly, u/Newton1221 thinks that this problem is such a massive oversight that Blizzard must have done it intentionally, pointing to the infrequently used Quest Items tabs to highlight how ridiculous the entire situation is. A few people also rather cynically think that Blizzard has intentionally created an issue so that it can sell the solution to players later down the line. It’s definitely not an uncommon tactic in the games industry these days, but we’ll give Blizzard the benfit of the doubt for now.

Whether or not Blizzard will listen to fans and actually implement some kind of solution to this problem remains to be seen, although the priority is probably on getting the servers ready for the game’s full launch on June 6. After that, the developers will probbaly then begin to look at quality of life improvements and any bug fixes, so we might have to put up with Gems taking up too much space in our inventories for a little while longer.
