Fans ofDiablo 4will be very aware that the game’s Hardcore Mode is no joke. Not only does it ratchet up the difficulty to ridiculous levels, but it also means that you’re character is permanently deleted if you die even once. For many, reaching level 100 in this mode is the ultimate challenge, something that Diablo streamer cArn recently accomplished, even if he didlose his character shortly afterwards due to a random disconnect.

However, there is one more challenge even greater than that, and that’s taking on the game’s hardest boss fight on Hardcore Mode. The Echo of Lilith boss fight is an optional level 100 boss fight that is meant to be the final challenge for Diablo 4 players, and it takes a whole lot of preparation, skill, and luck to beat, even on the game’s standard mode. That means attempting the fight on Hardcore Mode is extremely risky, but a streamer called Ben has managed to claim the title of the first recorded person to beat the Echo of Lilith boss fight on Hardcore Mode.

First shared by World of Warcraft fansiteWowhead(thanksGamesRadar), Ben accomplished this feat in a whopping 11 hour stream that took place last night, which you can find embedded down below. During the fight, Ben took down Echo of Liltih with relative ease in the end, infinitely stacking Whirlwind damage with his Barbarian to dish out some wild damage. Of course, someone else could have done this already and not uploaded the footage, but Ben is currently the first player to have accomplished this feat and have proof of their victory.

Just to really drive home how much of a moment this is in the Diablo community, you can see Ben’s Twitch chat going absolutely wild when they realise Echo of Lilith is about to go down, with multiple people shouting “I was here” in celebration. In stark contrast, Ben himself is rather subdued in their celebration, although they do shout “FREEDOM” once Lilith is down, so maybe not that subdued.

In any case, now that the races to reach level 100 in hardcore Mode and beat The Echo of Lilith boss fight are both over, there are very few ways left for Diablo 4 players to stand out amongst the crowd. We’ll obviously see Echo of Lilith taken down in many more impressive ways as time goes on, but it looks like we’ll now have to wait for some expansions for Blizzard to offer up another momentous challenge for players to overcome.
