Diablohas returned to the gaming world again, and before we set out to pursue Lilith across the vast new realm of Sanctuary, the frightened and scrounging locals need some help. There are plenty of side-quests to distract players from the main storyline inDiablo 4, and it’s a good idea to step off the beaten path and get a few done, even if it’s just to earn the extra gold.

Some of these side quests are picked up conventionally, from random NPCs that youmeet early in your travels, but others are hidden quests only available from random drops, and others are quest chains with a complex story of their own. Here are some of the best ones to finish when you need a diversion from the ultimate battle between Heaven and Hell.

8Secret Of The Spring

The wilds of Kylsik Plateau hide many strange and wonderful stories, and one of them is theSecret of the Spring. It looks like an easy quest at first, but there’s a twist to finishing it, and it’s not through battle prowess.

There’s a Discarded Note that you’re able to find that contains a cryptic message, It says, “Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace, patience rewarded by nature’s own grace.” First, find the steamy hot spring to the northeast, then use the /wait emote while standing next to it to make a chest appear.

6Chain Of Possession

When you saw this poor soul offering a quest outside of his humble home, you probably didn’t think it would lead to a fight with a possessed barbarian and an enchanted axe. This is a fun side quest that takes the player by surprise with a tough fight at the end, but it’s worth it for the rewards and storyline along with the extra perk of an achievement.

In Diablo 4, an achievement is called a Challenge, and completing this short quest chain gives you one called The Woodsman’s Axe.

There are all kinds of sad stories lying on the side of the deserted roads of the Frigid Expasein the Fractured Peaks, and this is one of them. The Dread Martyr is easier to find than most other hidden quests; instead of being found on a random corpse or in a tree trunk, a dying knight in full shining but badly damaged armor is waiting to pass on his last request.

His name was Sir Crowmwell, and before he passes away, he pleads with the hero to go forth and slay his former master, Lord Avitus. He awaits in a dungeon called the hallowed Ossuary, and it’s just as creepy as it sounds.

Wanderers in the Dobrev Taiga who loot every corpse, chest, tree trunk, or cairn they see will eventually find the Faded Old Painting.

Loot the painting to begin the quest, and it’s easy to complete the simple task or return it to Zalan Coste in Margrave. The painting was a work of his mother’s, and he’s grateful to see it again, but he begs you to keep the sacrilegious image a secret.
