Embracer Group’s CEO Lars Wingefors reportedly dodged a question about the status of theKnights of the Old Republic remakeduring an investor’s call today.

Things really aren’t looking good for the Knights of the Old Republic remake. Last year, development of the project was swapped from Aspyr to Saber Interactive, a change that led some to report that a 2024 release was “wishful thinking”. In fact, things have been so messy since the game was announced at the last PlayStation Showcase thatone insider last week even claimed that they didn’t think that the KOTOR remake was ever going to come out.

If you thought that was a bad sign, we might have an even worse one for you.According to Axios' Stephen Totilo, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors managed to dodge a question about the Knights of the Old Republic during an investor’s call earlier today. During the call, one investor asked if Wingefors could “please clarify the current status of the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake in regard to its development status and what shape is it in”.

In response to the question, Wingefors apparently said “Favourite question”, before waiting for the investor to stop chuckling in response. After he’d finished laughing, Wingefors said, “I have no further comments”, which doesn’t seem very good, especially as insiders and reporters express worry at the game’s current development state and doubt that it will even come out.

According to Totilo, Wingefors was apparently about to say more about the game other than having “no further comments”, but the investors relations interviewer spoke over him, something that Totilo notes should be taken as an eternal lesson to let there be silence and let the interviewee fill that void. We might just have found out the tiniest bit more about the game if that had been the case.

Wingefors silence on the matter is pretty much the only comment we need, though, as it’s becoming clearer and clearer with every new bit of insider information and a lack of response from Embracer’s side that the project is in trouble. Many think that it’s simply doomed to fail now or that it’s already dead, but it’s more likely that it’s just going to take a lot longer than was previously speculated.
