Your charming farmer lifestyle doesn’t go on in unchanging perpetuity; as time passes, you get older, and the world around you changes. Before you know it, your hair is gray, and your child is an adult with a life of their own.

Living out an entire lifetime can be overwhelming, to say the least. And while SoS: AWL may not overload you with new things, years will start to pass faster than you intended. Fortunately, it’s not an experience you have to go into completely blind. We’ve outlined each major chapter and the changes you can expect to see therein.

Chapter One: Beginnings

The beginning of the game. You arenew to the Forgotten Valleyandhave to familiarize yourselfwith the locals and your farmland.

Your Home And Family

You’resingle and live alonein a single-room home. You havea modest kitchen areawhere you’re able to cook soups or salads.

Your Farm

You begin the game with a dog anda single cow. Later in the year,Takakura will gift you a horse. You havelittle grass growing in the grazing field andtwo fields to grow crops in.

The Townsfolk

Everyonehere is new to you. Some are older, others are children, and some are about the same age as you.

Notes Of Importance

You arerequired to choose a marriage candidateby the end of the year. you may romance one of several characters.If you don’t propose by the end of the year, you are made to choose someone.If you don’t, the game is over.

Chapter Two: Branching

There isa several-year time skip(your animals and crops are unchanged, don’t worry). This chapter has the most changes, introducing both your child and a handful of new townsfolks and farm features.

The biggest and most noticeable change is thatyou now have a child. They take after your spouse in terms of appearance. you’re able to talk to them, pick them up, and play with them.

You also have expanded the house to havea separate kitchen in the back.This comes with a bathroom, toilet, and separate refrigerator storage that you can pull from when cooking meals.

After some effort, you may unlockVinnie, the crop-hybridizing plant monster. This enables you tocreate hybrid crops. You can also get a dialogue with Takakura tounlock the Amazing Fieldoption from the shopping ledger. This is a large field capable of growing rare third-generation hybrid crops.

The Town And Townsfolk

Nina, Gary’s significant other, has passed away. Gary has entered a depressed mood for the duration of this chapter. He has relocated toa small house near her grave, while Baddoch, the doctor, has moved into their old home.

A new family has also moved in, introducingGarrett, San, and Kate. You canget an Alarm Clockfrom a special request from Garrett.

Chapter Three: Blessings

You’ve become comfortable with your life at this point. Not much will change this chapter aside fromthe younger folks aging more.

Your child has grownfrom a toddler to a child. They will startdeveloping their abilities and interests. This is the best time to focus on that andpromote interests you want them to like.

Gary is back to his normal self again. Hugh has grown into a teenager.

Chapter Four: Blooming

This is where time starts to get away from you. Signs of aging are showing on everyone, yourself included. Despite this, not much changes about the world mechanically.

Your child is now in the angsty teenager phase. They’re taller, older, and generally upset for no reason.

This is a normal part of parenthood andnot an indication that you didn’t raise them properly.

You, your spouse, and all the adults in the Forgotten Valley will have aged withmore wrinkles and gray hair. Hugh and Kate are young adults now, withnew outfits and styles.

Chapter Five: Traversal

Finally, your child is past that dramatic young age. They’re a young adult now. This will bethe biggest differencein this chapter.

As mentioned,your child has grown into a young adult. They have a new outfit and will be more positive and cooperative.Their interests will be more solidified, something your spouse will remark on.

The dig site will haveexpanded even more. It’s so large now.

Chapter Six: Twilight

This is it: the twilight years. Your elderly at this point, and it shows.This entry has a remarkable spoiler, so proceed with caution.

You, your spouse, and everyone else in town are older.Your hair is mostly gray now, and you don’t have as much energy as you used to.

Your child is a full adult now. They will have decided on a career path now.

The children are all grown up, and all the adults are noticeably old now.

You guessed it: the dig site will have expanded.

At the end of the year, a cutscene will play out.Your character will stay in bed, where your family will find you unresponsive. The doctor will visit and declare a time of death, after which a somber but heartfelt mourning sequence will play out. This is considered the end of the game.Be sure to save your data afterwardbecause…

Chapter Seven: Beyond

It’s not over!After the last chapter, you’re able to then load up your saved file. It will now say it is Year 1 Spring 1 of the Beyond chapter, with the three harvest sprites as an icon. Loading this save will boot up an endless mode generally referred to asBeyond or Chapter Seven.

In the Special Edition of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, this was known asHeaven Mode.

Everyone in town will revert to their Chapter 2 ages, yourself included.The exceptions to this are the youngstersHugh, Kate, and your child, who will stay a full adult.Unfortunately, Nina will remain passed away.

This chapter never ends. It’s intended to bea non-canonical continuationso that you can continue your save file,striving for achievements, completingthe remaining Wonders, finding the rest ofthe hybrid crops, or whatever unfinished business you have with the game.
