Summary

Honkai: Star Railhas many fascinatingly unique and wonderful playable characters with charming qualities and personalities.Throughout their interactions with other characters and combat actions, they will put their entire heart and soul on display, showcasing what makes them shine bright.

Another aspect that gives you a glimpse of each character’s unique personality is their phone case, which is easily missable but an incredible detail. While it is a minor detail, it makes a huge impact, as you get to see how each character handles personalizing their phone. Though, some are much better at this aspect than others…

Dan Heng’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Updated June 30, 2025, by Seth Parmer:Since we last updated this list, seven characters have entered the enormous roster of Honkai: Star Rail, allowing us to revisit it and add Feixiao, Jade, Jiaoqiu, Lingsha, Moze, Rappa, and Yunli into the mix. And let us just say that most of these characters have incredible phone cases that are worth checking out and go toe-to-toe with some of the best available in the game!

Dan Heng

While we’d like to say that Dan Heng’s case isn’t that bad, the thing is, he doesn’t seem to have one on his phone, which sort of throws a wrench into things.

Due to this, he simply sits at the bottom of the list regarding who has the best phone case but moves him to the top of the list for people with way too much confidence in their ability to never drop their phone.

Blade’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Dan Heng’s awesome Imbibitor Lunae form also shares the same caseless phone, somehow making it much worse. Like, dude, you’re a Vidyadhara with some of the best threads in the game and this is what you roll with? Unreal, Dan Heng. Unreal.

Blade

Blade is a dominant character and the current Banner Character in Honkai: Star Rail. However, his phone case is absolutely horrendous and is only better than Dan Heng’s out of technicality since he doesn’t even have a case on his phone.

His phone case is a gradient that goes from black to dark blue to dark red… and that’s it: no design, touch of personality, or anything of the sort. Imagine being one of the most formidable characters money can buy to show up with this in your pocket. Yikes.

Hanya’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Hanya

Hanya, much like the previous two entries, is a tremendously fascinating and devastating character who somehow drops the ball when it comes to decking out her phone case despite having one of the best attires and aesthetics in the Honkai: Star Rail.

While there is at least a large flower decal in the bottom left corner and some diamonds here and there, the case is overall rather boring, with not much going on that highlights her personality or interests. It’s not the worst one, but it’s nowhere near the best.

Xueyi’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Xueyi

Being the sister of Hanya, Xueyi shares a very similar phone case as a result, leading us to similar conclusions. However, in Xueyi’s case, she does a slightly better job at pulling it off, as the white background allows for the gold, red, and blue colors to pop a bit more, making it stand out better than her sister’s.

Overall, the design is virtually the same, aside from the positioning of the flower design and the orientation of the camera. So, while better, it’s only by a slim margin, placing her slightly above her sister and below most of the other roster.

Aventurine’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Aventurine

Aventurine is the latest and hottest entry to the rapidly expanding roster of Honkai: Star Rail, and has a clean and elegant fit of threads to help make him stand tall amongst the rest. So, naturally, this must mean he has a killer phone case to complement that fact, right? …Right?

And, while it isn’t horrible, it isn’t necessarily what we’d call great or even good. It’s mostly a gold phone case with a diamond pattern, offering splashes of blue and white with a blue diamond where the camera would be. It’s fine, but definitely the least impressive of his overall design.

Gallagher’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Gallagher

We should like Gallagher’s phone case way more than we do, as it is themed to look like a bottle of alcohol and has a decent use of colors and personality, but it comes across as a bit too generic overall. And, while it is certainly much better than everything before it, it’s not nearly as good as the others that come after it, placing it near the bottom of the list.

The label that covers the scuffed and marked brown bottle design adds much-needed color to the case, but nearly enough to make it look interesting or rise above being just ‘fine’ in the grand scheme of things. Even if Gallagher is a sick character overall!

Boothill’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Boothill

Boothill is the newest gunslinging cyborg cowboyto enter the massive roster of Honkai: Star Rail. So, naturally, his phone case needed to have a large bullet hole decal on it, along with a black and red color scheme. While not the worst case out there, it certainly lacks creativity.

To give credit where credit is due, the pendant behind the bullet hole is also incorporated into his overall design, along with the isotoxal stars found near the top of the case. It’s just that the overall design and execution of it all is bland, leaving us no choice but to place him lower on the list.

Moze’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Moze

Moze’s phone case isn’t necessarily bland as it is uninspired, featuring a black and red gradient with a distressed crow placed in the center along with three white dots near the left-hand side. The crow is pretty cute, but the overall design and execution of the case leave much to be desired.

Granted, Moze is a Shadow Guard and is essentially made to be edgy, but this case just doesn’t hit. It’s better than the nothing-burger that is Dan Heng’s case, but that bar is pretty much in the ground at this point. A fine case but nothing too special to place it any higher.

Seele’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Seele

On the other hand, Seele takes care of her phone and has provided a case for it, and while it won’t necessarily blow you away, it does its job and fits her overall personality and abilities.

When you first meet Seele, she can appear overly serious and strict, but as you spend more time with her, you will quickly learn that she’s a big softy once you crack that hard exterior of hers. This case signifies that excellently and ties into her Ultimate, further showcasing her personality.

Gepard’s phone case and character portrait in Honkai: Star Rail.

Gepard

Like Seele’s, Gepard’s phone case is fine for what it is but pales in comparison to the others. Though having a giant shield cover the back of your phone signifies it’s protected, it only makes sense with Gepard, as no one else would ever rock this.

Furthermore, while this case isn’t terrible, the colors are sort of dull, leaving out the deep blues that highlight his outfit and ice-based abilities. If there were splashes of blue here, it would likely be a bit higher, but nonetheless…
