In this guide, we’ve laid out everything you need to know about them, so thatyou’ll be prepared to take them down on your next encounter. We’ve outlined the three types, provided the locations for every single one, and offered tips and tricks for your epic battle. Good luck!

Types Of Frox

In total, there arethree types of Frox, each more dangerous than the last. Don’t be fooled - the most dangerous type is the Blue-White Frox, not the Obsidian variety.

Thesimplest way to differentiate the three types is by eye colour.Regular Frox have orange eyes, Obsidian Frox have green eyes, and Blue-White Frox have red eyes. Expect themore dangerous versions to have more health and to do more damagethan their easier counterparts. Each will give slightly more powerful components than the last, too.

Tips For Beating Frox

How Does A Frox Attack, And How Should You Counter?

Youcan only do damage to a Frox in two ways:shooting its eye or hitting the ore deposits on its back. Any attack against its skin will be totally ineffective.

A Frox’skey attacksare as follows:

In general, your goal will be to stunthe Frox so that it stays still long enough for an attack. You can do this either by shooting the Frox in its enormous, glowing eye, or by making it swallow a Bomb Flower. Either way, you’ll have enough of an opening to climb on top of the beast and attack the ore deposits there.

Don’t try to dodge a Frox for a Flurry Rush;that’s just not going to work. In fact, unless you’re racing to get on its back, you shouldn’t be anywhere near the Frox! Its charge attack and body slam attack can be really cruel, often coming when you just didn’t have enough time to put away your bow and get out of the way. With enough practice, you’ll get a better sense for when you should start running for your life.

If you havethe Avatar of Tulinfrom completing the main mission in the Rito region, keep him out for Frox fights! Tulin can help propell you when you’re midair after a Frox bucked you off, and sometimes he will even land an arrow to the eye, offering you a free ride on the Frox’s back.

Preparation Is Key: What Should You Bring?

The Frox, being creatures of the Depths, will sap your life force. When you takeGloom damage,it can’t be healed until you’ve restored those hearts. You also may have to run through patches of Gloom. For these reasons,be sure to bring:

In addition, make sure you have plenty of the following (which is justgood sense for beating any boss):

Finally, consider your weapons. One of the main ways you beat a Frox is by attacking the ore deposits on its back, so be sure to have a strong melee weapon that will be capable of taking out ore as quickly as possible.A two-handed weaponcan even hit multiple ore deposits at a time. In addition, you’ll need to be able to stun the Frox to get to those ore deposits, so a bow is crucial. Apowerful bow is preferable, since you will dosomedamage with your arrow to the eye, but your melee weapon will be pulling most of the weight.
