Whenever you’re about to start a new match inCrash Team Rumble, there’s a crucial question you should ask yourself: “What character should I choose?” Once that’s out of the way, there’s a second crucial question you should ask yourself: “Which Power should I pick?” After all, Powers are almost as important as the characters themselves, and they can be game-changers during matches.

Though all of them are good, we’re evaluating them on whether they’re always useful or only situational and how many roles or characters can take proper advantage of each Power in most scenarios.

7Bounce Crates

To be fair, these crates can be useful for most characters since they compensate for the lack of height you may achieve with each of them. It could makesomeone like Dingodilea lot more mobile, for instance. However, its utility is very situational; this is a platforming game, so everyone can jump around, even if some do this job quicker than others.

Despite helping with high jumps, the fact that you’re picking this one up means you’re not getting much better options, as we’ll get into in the following entries. Still, since we’ve mentioned this Power can be occasionally useful, we recommend choosing it if you’re playing with either a slow character or someone who can’t jump high, and the match will take place in a big arena with lots of high places you may need to reach.

6Garbage Dump

Garbage Dump is a decent method of causing damage in a particular area, like the enemy bank, Gem Clusters, the enemy bank, the Epic Relic Stations, or, where everyone who gets this Power like to use it, the enemy bank.

The problem with this Power is that there are other options that do the same thing but better. Garbage Dump shows where it’ll hit in the area, so a quick player can avoid most of the damage until the time runs out, and the Garbage Dump can’t contest points of interest like other Powers here. It’s still useful if you saw what Powers your team picked and want to bring some variety into the mix. Killing people by throwing trash at them is pretty funny, too.

5Power Drain

We’ve already arrived at the great ones because most Powers in this game are useful. Power Drain is the ultimate counter; it drains the energy required to use Powers from your enemies, preventing them from using their Powers against you and your team.

That said, if you want to use Power Drain properly, you need to pay a lot of attention to your enemies and retroactively use the Drain. The reason is the Drain doesn’t do anything to active Powers; it only drains people’s energy to prevent them from activating a Power in the first place. So, if you think someone is about to dump some garbage, you need to turn your Power Drain onbeforeit happens.

4Healing Fridge

It heals, and that’s about it. Right now, healing is a bit scarce, with onlyCatbathaving an actual healing ability, making this Fridge quite powerful. They don’t take too long to charge, and you can stack their healing by having multiple around you, which is quite useful.

They can be broken, though; your enemies will likely go for them to stop your healing. So, it’d be wise to protect them or leave them as decoys. Healing Fridges are useful for essentially anyone, though Blockers like Dingodile can have a fun time with them, turning themselves into nearly unkillable machines by combining their large health pool with healing. Still, it’s not that useful to the point a lot of players should get it; in fact, repeating Powers overall isn’t that useful, though it can still work.

3Wumpa Stash

Wumpa Stash can be one of those game-changers with how powerful it is, but it has drawbacks you need to be aware of, and it’s mainly useful for Scorers only. Boosters can use it to compensate for the fact they don’t turn Wumpa in as often, but some Powers are more useful for them. The same applies to Blockers.

Essentially, you’ll get extra Wumpa to deliver at your bank, but you need to wait until the golden Wumpa that will appear above you is completely filled. Your enemies will be able to see the golden Wumpa, too, so there’s a chance they will target you to prevent you from delivering the extra fruit. Still, having more Wumpa to bank in will make your job quicker and make you a more efficient Scorer.

2Flytrap Spitter

Another Power that can be useful for most characters, thoughBoosters such as Cocowill have a better time with them. You create a plant with a long-range spit attack. It’s possible to dodge the projectile, but it does follow the enemy a little bit.

Its defensive capabilities are pretty good. The damage is not great, but attacking from afar is useful since most characters can’t do so. It’s also possible to use multiple Flytraps at once, and they can contest Gems, allowing you to control one or two Gems while taking another yourself. A good way to kick the enemies trying to take the Gems from you. Or for you to rob the Gems the enemies were taking before you arrived. Either case, it’ll help you.

1Gasmoxian Guard

The ultimate get-out-of-jail card, the Gasmoxian Guard, is useful for killing or avoiding confrontations. It’s massive, causes a lot of damage around it, and has a lot of health. Unless the entire enemy team — or someone with a ranged attack like Cortex — decides to gang up on the Guard, nothing will kill them until the time runs out.

You can use them to straight up deny a specific area. It can contest Gems like the Flytrap, enemies won’t be able to deliver Relics at stations if you put the Guard on top of it, and if you put them on top of the enemy bank, they’ll have a hard time delivering Wumpa entirely. And, if someone’s trying to kill you, you can always throw them on top of the fight and use the Guard as a shield while they cause damage to your attacker.
