Every year since 1993,Magic: The Gatheringhas released several expansion sets, giving the community a whole selection of new cards, stories, and mechanics to help keep the game feeling fresh. With each set, many Magic formats get a shakeup, changing the meta and allowing old cards to shine once more alongside the new.

The third expansion set for this year is Wild of Eldraine and will be the 97th expansion set for Magic: The Gathering. Its set symbol will be an open storybook with a diamond in the center. Conceptually, it brings players back to the fairytale plane of Eldraine.
Eldraine Story
First seen back in 2019 with the setThrone of Eldraine, the plane is very reminiscent of oldArthurian legend mixed with fairytale mythology like the Grimm’s stories. This set will focus more on the darker wilds filled with mystery and danger.
A witch by the name ofEriette(seen in the artwork above) has placed a sleeping spell on the land, causing most of the inhabitants to fall into a deep slumber while the rest struggle over power and leadership. The former planeswalkersWill Kenrithand his twin sister,Rowan Kenrith, are at the center of this struggle, working to better Eldraine in separate ways.
Wilds Of Eldraine Cards
Currently, there have been no card reveals, but with arelease date of September 8th, there is only a matter of time before card showcases begin. There will be two commander decks for this set. One is Green-White, namedVirtue and Valour,and the other is Blue-Black, namedFae Domination.
We have also seen some artwork for upcoming cards in the set, shown throughout the article. One of these pieces is forEvolving Wilds, a classic card seen in plenty of different sets. Above is the artwork forSyr Ginger, Meal Ender, which gives a great representation of the kind of life and design in the world of Eldraine.
There will also beJumpstart boostersreleased for this set, allowing players to jump straight in with ready-made decks and see what mechanics and gameplay Wilds of Eldraine has to offer.
