Final Fantasy 14’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, has been spotted playingThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomduring a recent test stream for the game’s 6.4 update.

After four years of waiting, the long-awaited sequel toBreath of the Wild(god remember when it was called that?), Tears of the Kingdom, is finally upon us. I’m sure that most gamers are trying to find ways to skive off work and get started on revisiting Hyrule, but that apparently also applies to one of gaming’s most beloved developers - Final Fantasy 14’s producer, Naoki Yoshida.

As spotted by Nova Crystallis, Yoshi-P made his expected appearance during the most recent Live Letter from the Producer livestream for Final Fantasy 14, which is intended to show off all of the things that are going to be added to the game in its upcoming 6.4 patch. Considering how beefy these updates are, you might expect the game’s director to have all of his attention on the stream, but shortly after making an appearance, Yoshi-P could be seen playing on his Nintendo Switch.

What is he playing, you might ask? Well, if you are asking you’ve clearly not seen the title of the article, but it should be pretty obvious anyway - like most of us, he’s playing Tears of the Kingdom. At one point during the stream,Yoshi-P proudly holds up the Switch, which is the limited edition Tears of the Kingdom OLED model, and confirms that he’s playing Link’s latest adventure. After all the hard work he’s done on both Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 16, he’s certainly earned a little bit of Zelda time, even if he’s supposed to be telling us about the 6.4 patch.

According to Twitter user aitaikimochi, Final Fantasy 14’s global community producer Toshio Murouchi commented on Yoshida playing Zelda, noting that it “seems like his heart’s not in it today” when he walked on stream playing the Switch. As someone who’s also at work on Tears of the Kingdom’s launch day, I totally get it.

Thankfully for all of you Final Fantasy 14 fans out there, Yoshi-P didn’t spend the whole presentation sitting there playing Tears of the Kingdom, and did quickly put the Switch down when the stream started for real. He does seem to glance down at the table in front of him a little more than usual though, and as someone who has absolutely played the Switch during Zoom calls and meetings (don’t tell my boss), I’d wager that he’s secretly playing it with the Joy-Cons detached. He’s truly one of us.
