Biggs and Wedge aren’t inFinal Fantasy 16, but many characters in the game share resemblance with other characters from the previous games in theFinal Fantasyseries. They might be polar opposites in personality, but these characters share everything else from the color scheme to looks, and even outfit design.

You’ll even see some characters share looks with characters who share the same name as another character in the game. Having the same namesake means nothing to this series—but it isn’t any less funny to see another character in this game take after another game’s Cid more than Cid himself.
10Gav and Balthier
Maybe it’s because they’re both blondes, or maybe it’s their slicked-back hair. Despite Balthier from Final Fantasy 12 being more fond of the spotlight thanGav, who is usually assigned to shadier dealingsand espionage, there’s no denying that the two look similar and are great side characters.
Gav is just taller and larger compared to Balthier, who appears to possess a thinner frame. Gav also only has one eye due to the events of the game, and he doesn’t come from a noble background, unlike Balthier.
9Torgal and Fenrir
All will be explained later, but Torgal’s transformation during a certain scene likely made you scratch your head a little. Torgal’s magical reveal might’ve reminded you of another icy wolf from Final Fantasy 14 named Fenrir. Fenrir makes a good steed if you need a mount, but Torgal is still the best boy all else considered.

Whether these two have any sort of chilling connection is something you’ll have to find out for yourself, but the resemblance is strong for these two great and fiercely loyal hounds.
8Midadol Telamon and Lyse Hext
Final Fantasy 16’s Mid resembles Lyse, just younger and with shorter hair. Mid isa recurring character, but she looks a lot less like the other versions of her character in the previous games. Mid and Lyse might not share the same preference for outfits—save for the few red accents on their designs, but their pale blonde hair, soft blue eyes, and their gentle features make them look alike.
Both characters are firecrackers, but in very different ways. Mid is fun and enthusiastic, but Lyse is the type to act before thinking. Despite their looks, they’re very different characters altogether.
7Benedikta Harman and Zidane
It’s no secret that Benedikta’s design gets a lot of love from the fans, but some were also seeing another character because of her hair. Fans have compared Zidane and Benedikta’s designs and could see similarities that they wish they could forget. If you look at Zidane’s Dissidia Final Fantasy NT version, you’d probably agree that he’s basically a male Benedikta.

It’s even funnier when you think about how Benedikta absolutely has no chill, and Zidane is relatively laid-back and works in a theatre troupe. Although, if there’s anything else they have in common, it’s that they seem to get who they want with their good looks and charm.
6Tomes and Cid Garlond
Who would’ve expected Cid not to look like Cid? You probably did, even if there’s a Cid in all the Final Fantasy games. There are a few Cids that look alike, but it’s common for him to look different in almost every game. That being said, Harpocrates (or Tomes), your local historian based at the Hideaway, closely resembles Cid Garlond.
Both characters are known for their intelligence, but Tomes isn’t the fighting type like Cid, and is best suited to a lot of reading. Although, Tomes admits he’s tired of having to read so often.
5Jill Warrick and Ashe
Some argue that Jill’s personality and role in the story reminds them of Tifa Lockheart, while others would say that Jill is Ashe from Final Fantasy 12 with long hair. In the looks department, Jill definitely looks more like Ashe. It also doesn’t help that they’re both nobles who lost everything—a very convenient coincidence.

They have similar facial features and gray eyes. The only difference they have excluding their clothes and hair length is their hair color: Ashe has sandy blonde hair, but could sometimes pass off as gray. Jill’s hair is a clearer shade of gray.
4Anabella and Princess Sarah Cornelia
Once you see the resemblance, it would be hard to unsee it. You might not want to see Anabella in Sarah from Mobius Final Fantasy, though, since they’re nothing alike. The former would burn her nation for personal gain, while the latter would burn for her nation.
But once you see that Sarah could pass off as a younger version of Anabella with short hair, it would be difficult to see otherwise. Both have a regal air to them, but the distinction between the two could be seen in theirshade of blonde. Sarah has a darker blonde shade, while Anabella’s blonde looks frostier.
3Joshua Rosfield and Arc
Joshua’s design is possibly inspired by another Joshua from Vagrant Story, since they have the same name and look almost identical to each other. But even with that, Final Fantasy 16’s Joshua does bear a striking resemblance with Arc from Final Fantasy 3. Maybe it’s the hairstyle, but both are also kindhearted and intelligent boys.
Related:Final Fantasy: Every Version Of Phoenix, RankedBoth Joshua and Arc had a frail body, and would often feel like a burden to the ones that had to protect them. But as far as their looks go, Joshua’s a blonde, and Arc is a brunette with some freckles.
2Cidolfus Telamon and Jack Garland
This game’s Cid does have a lookalike, but it’s nobody from his Cid multiverse. Instead, you’ll find somebody who looks like him in Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin—if he was screaming “chaos” in almost every conversation and wanting to skip the dialogue himself.
Cidolfus is what Jack could’ve been if he tried to get along with people a little more andstressed less about Chaos. Conversely, Jack is probably what Cidolfus could’ve been if he had an ever-present scowl on his face—and lighter hair and eyes.
1Dion Lesage and Rufus Shinra
The difference between the personalities of these two is comparable to day and night, but they’re the same guy in different fonts—just with slightly different hairstyles. Both are heirs to a grand legacy, but one of them loves power more than who it’s supposed to serve.
They might not be connected, but they share an uncanny resemblance from their faces up to their preferences in clothing. They’re both platinum blondeswho are usually draped in complicated white garb, and they have a penchant for stealing anybody and everybody’s hearts.
