Fortnite Players Have Solved Darth Maul's Lightsaber Problem

It’s May 4, so naturallyFortnitehas expanded its roster of availableStar Warsskins. Actually, it added new characters to the mix a couple of days early, welcoming Anakin Skywalker and Darth Maul to the fold. You’d have likely assumed Darth Maul would have come with his iconic double-ended red lightsabers, but no.The Darth Maul skin comes with a halberdfor some reason, but thankfully, players with a deeper Fortnite knowledge have (sort of) fixed that.A few players, includinglowneliestgirwland websiteCluelessGamer, have highlighted there’s technically a pickaxe that sort of looks like a lightsaber called the omni sword. Even better you can turn the omni sword red and make it double-ended. No, the blade tapering to a point and the gaps between the blades and the handle mean it isn’t the perfect lightsaber replica. Thankfully, Fortnite’s omni sword also comes in green and can be single-bladed too, meaning Anakin’s fusioncutter can be replaced with something far more fitting. You’d think adding lightsabers as a harvesting tool would be a no-brainer, but Fortnite may have shot itself in the foot in that regard.Lightsabers were added to the gameas a popular and powerful weapon during Fortnite’s first Star Wars crossover and have returned sporadically since then, including right now. Turning them into pickaxes may well spell the end of them returning as discoverable weapons. As a fan of lightsabers in Fortnite as they are, if no double-ended red version for Darth Maul is the trade-off we need to make to keep lightsabers as actual weapons, I’ll allow it. We might even be able to use them to recreate the ending of Episode 3if the volcano rumors are true. Calling dibs on the high ground now just in case.
