Stick Drift is arguably the most common issue you may face with any game controller. While it can be fixed in some cases, the issue is an unfortunate result of the technology used in the thumbstick modules in almost every first and third party PlayStation and Xbox controllers – even the Nintendo Switch JoyCons. Gaming peripheral brand GameSir looks to combat this issue with the launch of the G7 SE wired controller licensed for Xbox and Windows PC.

The GameSir G7 SE is compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11 via a USB-C wired connection. It features a similar button and stick layout as the base Xbox controller on the front, with two additional programmable back buttons as well. These back buttons also come with quick latches to prevent accidental inputs, in case you don’t want to use them.
GameSir G7 SE Wired Controller For Xbox
The GameSir G7 SE is a wired controller for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11. Aside from the ergonomic shape and two back buttons, tt features Hall Effect thumbsticks. Due to the nature of this technology, the wear and tear that results in stick drift is pretty much negated.
However, the highlight of the G7 SE is the technology it uses for its thumbsticks. Instead of the analogue thumbstick tech you’d find in most controllers, this one features Hall Effect sticks. This technology relies on non-contact magnetic sensors, which are not susceptible to the wear and tear that results in stick drift issues.
Since the thumbsticks rely on magnetic sensors that do not require actual contact, there is no avenue for the wear and tear that causes stick drift. The G7 SE is also the first licensed Xbox controller to use Hall Effect sticks. The main selling point of this technology is that there is no scope for stick drift related issues to occur at all.
Another great feature of the G7 SE is that it is highly customisable. The GameSir Nexus software allows players to effortlessly tune their settings, remap buttons, and even switch between multiple profiles.
Additionally, the controller comes with swappable faceplates that are paint-friendly. This means you remove the faceplate, paint almost any design, character, or whatever else you can think of on it, and just snap it back on. This beats buying a whole separate controller with a unique design or branding on it. This way, the possibilities are endless.
Based on the success that the GameSir G7 has seen, the G7 SE sounds like a great buy for anyone who has been plagued by stick drift in the past. Sure, it doesn’t have too many fancy features that other controllers offer, but the fact that it features thumbsticks that are not susceptible to stick drift is a welcome addition.
The paint-friendly magnetic faceplate is also a unique feature that lets you customise your controller in whatever way you’re able to think of. Not only does it afford customisation, but it will also save you a lot of money, as you can just recreate whatever artwork you want on the controller, without having to buy an all new one.
