A new trailer forDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s fifth DLC pack, the Chaos of the World Tournament scenario from the originalDragon Ballseries, has revealed that Goku, Tien, and any other playable characters won’t be able to fly at all.

While we might not be getting anynew information on Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 any time soon,Bandai Namco is at least giving us some DBZ goodness with a new trailer for the next DLC pack for Kakarot. This trailer was our first in-depth look at the DLC’s gameplay and it revealed that the pack will make some unique changes to how the base game played.

The main change introduced in the DLC is that Goku and other playable characters won’t be flying around and taking part in aerial combat like they do in the base game. Instead, all of the battles will focus strictly on ground combat, which means that there’s a new focus on jumping, dodging, and blocking like never before. There does appear to be a little bit of aerial combat, but it’s certainly not like the main game.

This is a choice that makes a lot of sense considering where this is in the timeline. In the original Dragon Ball manga, Goku’s fight against Junior (or Piccolo as we now know him) was the first time that he was ever shown flying, something that drained him of his stamina and was something that he couldn’t do too much. By Dragon Ball Z, he and everyone else has mastered the technique and can fly around with ease, but at this point, it’s a new thing he can barely do, which makes it a smart change for the DLC.

That’s not the only thing that’s noticeably different in the gameplay footage, however. While the rest of Kakarot’s DLC packs have seen Goku and Vegeta getting stronger and stronger, resulting in ridiculously high power levels and damage numbers, this DLC brings Goku back down to level 19, which has also affected how much damage he can do in general. It’s a nice detail, as is the fact that Goku’s special moves consist of things like Solar Flare, Kamehameha, and Blow Strike instead of the all-powerful techniques we see him use in the future.

One thing thatwasn’trevealed in the trailer was the release date for the DLC packwhich is a little surprising considering it’s been known about since February and was leaked even before then. It’s coming up to nearly half a year since it was revealed and this latest trailer is the most in-depth look at gameplay we’ve had yet, so it seems like we’re approaching a full release date announcement.
