There are some pretty surprising omissions in Disney+. At first glance,Disney’sstreaming service seems to have everything you could want and more. Since its launch in 2019, Disney+ has been the go-to place for classic Disney animations,Star Wars, Pixar,Marvel, and the latest Disney content. But if you look a little closer, you’ll notice some very notable titles missing from the library.

Not only is Disney+ missing many hidden gems and cult classics. It’s missing many franchise-starters, installments in famous trilogies, and even some Academy Award-nominated movies. It’s unclear if these titles will come to the service in the future, and it’s surprising to see how much of Disney’s history is currently unavailable to stream.

10Dick Tracy (1990)

Dick Tracy was Disney’s attempt to dip their toes into comic book adaptations, and their effort didn’t go unrewarded. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, and Best Original Song.

Set in the 1930s, the plot follows Detective Dick Tracy as he tries to take down the mafia. The movie was praised for its unique visual style, which nailed the tone of the comics. Danny Elfman composed the score, and the film features an all-star cast, including Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, and Madonna. With that much going for it, it’s a shock why this isn’t on Disney+.

9Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001)

This is a very strange omission considering it’s the only film in the Dr. Dolittle trilogy missing from Disney+. Dr. Dolittle 2 was the last movie in the series to star Eddie Murphy as the main character. Set three years after the first film, Dr. Dolittle travels the world, using his powers to speak to animals to help them solve various problems.

The movie features a strong cast, including Raven-Symoné, Norm Macdonald, and Lisa Kudrow. While it was criticized for relying too much on toilet humor, there are still some genuine laughs in this adventure, and Eddie Murphy is charming as always.

8Artemis Fowl (2020)

This one may come as a surprise. You may remember seeing Artemis Fowl on Disney+, but the film is no longer on the service. It was one of the few movies removed due to Disney’s cost-cutting measures.

Artemis Fowl had an incredibly rocky production, and the theatrical release was canceled due to the pandemic. When it was finally released, it was panned for its writing and significant departures from the books. If you did happen to enjoy this movie, unfortunately, there is currently no official way to watch it.

7Son Of Flubber (1963)

You might be familiar with the Flubber series thanks to the 1997 remake starring Robin Williams. Son Of Flubber is the sequel to the original Flubber movie, The Absent-Minded Professor. The story follows the clumsy Professor Ned Brainard as he tries to make a scientific breakthrough but only winds up causing chaos.

The film was released in 1963 to critical acclaim and currently has a score of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The professor’s antics are silly as ever as his inventions accidentally reverse gravity, shatter windows, and even change the weather. The Flubber brand is pretty well-known, so it’s baffling why this isn’t on Disney+.

6Dragonslayer (1981)

Dragonslayer is a 1980s live-action dark fantasy akin to Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. Set in medieval times, the plot follows a dragon who terrorizes the land. Human sacrifices are chosen randomly to appease the beast, making this one of Disney’s more mature films.

The movie has an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for two Academy Awards. The special effects consist of all the puppetry and stop-motion you’d expect from an 80s fantasy film. The dragon puppet was impressive for the time, making for one ofthe coolest Disney villains.

5Tomorrowland (2015)

Tomorrowland is one of the newer films missing from Disney+. A teenager finds a pin that transports anyone who touches it to the futuristic city of Tomorrowland, where she quickly becomes a fugitive. It was written and directed by Brad Bird, who’s known for directing The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

The film was praised for its stunning special effects and ambitious concept but criticized for its lack of plot. Nonetheless, it’s filled with Sci-Fi action and features an all-star cast, including George Clooney, Britt Robertson, Tim McGraw, Kathryn Hahn, and Keegan-Micahel Key.

4Tower Of Terror (1997)

On Halloween night, 1931, five guests at the Hollywood Tower Hotel entered the elevator to go to the top floor. They were never seen again. Decades later, disgraced journalist Buzzy Crocker investigates the hotel to learn the truth about the disappearances.

Tower Of Terror is based on the famous Disney World ride of the same name. The tone is similar to other young adult horror content of the 90s, like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid Of The Dark. It’san underrated classicand would make for a solid addition to Disney+ alongside their other spooky movies.

3Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book (1994)

While not as well known as its animated counterpart, Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book is a live-action adaptation of the classic story. The plot follows Mowgli as a child and an adult as he adventures through the Jungle.

The film was met with critical acclaim when it was released and currently has an 80 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The cast is very strong, starring Cary Elwes, Sam Neill, and John Cleese. It’s a different take on the story from the 1967 animated classic, specifically because it’s not a musical, and the animals don’t talk.

2Air Bud (1997)

Air Bud is one of the most baffling omissions. While most Air Buddies movies are available on Disney+, the one that started the series is shockingly absent. This is a surprise considering how much nostalgic value it has, especially for kids who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s.

Air Bud gave the world the iconic line, “Ain’t no rule says the dog can’t play basketball.” It’s a silly story about a boy who takes in a runaway dog, and the two of them join a competitive basketball team. Air Bud: Golden Receiver and Air Buddies are also missing from the service.

Tower Of Terror - A Headless Man Holding A Butcher Knife

1The Brave Little Toaster (1987)

By far the most bizarre omission from Disney+. The Brave Little Toaster is an incrediblyiconic and beloved animated Disney film. Its absence is even stranger since both sequels are available to watch on the service.

The story follows a sentient toaster and his friends, including a vacuum cleaner and a lamp, on their journey to find their missing owner. It’s one of the oddest premises for a Disney film, but it holds a lot of sentimental value for many people and makes for a very cute adventure. Hopefully, this classic will come to Disney+ in the near future.
