Grand Theft Auto Onlinerolled out the Mercenaries update today, bringing with it new quality-of-life options,an alternative sprint control, and updates to the Creator. But what Rockstar kept quiet was that it added a few more easter eggs from past GTA games, as you can now pick up Niko’s outfit from GTA 4 and Claude’s outfit from GTA 3.
This was shared by Rockstar-dedicated Twitter account Ben, or @videotechx. They shared four screenshots of them in Ponsonbys wearing Niko and Claude’s outfits, as well as Franklin and Michael’s. you may also pick up Trevor’s, as the GTA 5 trilogy’s signature clothes are now readily available in the store.

Niko’s is called “The Hired Gun” and, to unlock it, you need to “Complete Tier 4 in 25 areas of Career Progress”. Claude’s is “The Silent”, and to gain access, you have to “Complete Tier 4 in 20 areas of Career Progress”. Franklin’s is “The Hustler”, and requires the same but for ten areas, and Michael’s is “The Mr. Slick”, which asks you to do it for five areas. Ben didn’t show off Trevor’s, but it looks like it’s called “The Unbathed”.
These new clothing options are exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S - you can’t get them on PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
Previously, if you wanted to bring any of the classic GTA protagonists to life in Online, you’d have to find close equivalents and make do with what was available. There were entire guides and YouTube videos breaking down the most similar items of clothing in GTA 5 to that ofNiko, Claude, and Tommy. For the former, that usually meant buying Worn Chocolate Slack Boots and Navy Tracksuit Pants with a Charcoal T-Shirt and Brown Leather Jacket. It wasn’t perfect, but it was close enough. Now though, you’re able to get the real deal.
Of course, that still leaves Tommy and CJ, the protagonists of GTA Vice City and San Andreas. They aren’t among the line-up, so they don’t get special codenames. That might be because neither is from a numbered GTA game, as this only pulls from GTA 3, GTA 4, and GTA 5. Maybe down the line, we’ll see them included, though. As for what they’d be called, I’ll leave that up to your imagination.
Aside from the new outfits, the Mercenaries update brings with itray-traced reflections, the Career Builder, the roving Gun Van, the 50-car multi-floor garage, the new License Plate Creator, Taxi Work, and more.
