Hoyoverse games is renowned for its character and special move designs, and Star Rail is a welcome addition to the family. Do you like Seele’s lightning-fast beauty butterfly attack, or are you more a fan of The Trailblazer’s simple yet effective baseball bat attack that makes heads roll?

10Trailblazer - Stardust Ace

In mostcharacter-based gacha games, the main character you’re supposed to step into the shoes of tends to be bland. Honkai: Star Rail attempts to buck the trend this time around by giving the main character not only an inner voice to which we can hear their thoughts but also a cute look, and one big difference that lets them stand: A bat.

Listen, they are the only character that exists who brings a bat to an intergalactic space war and not only survives, but strong-arms enemies into submission. No matter which version of the character you pick, they are going to look badass when it’s time for them to perform their ultimate.

Trailblazer pulls out her bat in her ultimate move.

9Serval - Here Comes The Mechanical Fever

Serval Landau takes her mechanical background and combines it with her passion for ‘ancient’ rock-n-roll music from long before The Great Freeze. Her guitar attacks are lightning based, but it isn’t the usual purple-colored hue of lightning (or better known as Electro in the Hoyoverse). No, Serval ups the spectacle tenfold with her unique spin on electricity.

Her ultimate move, Here Comes The Mechanical Fever, takes her uniquely pink and blue colored lightning andchannels it into her guitaras she takes center stage, and lights up all enemies on the field. That’s not all though, the chord she plays is powerful enough to break through most defenses.

Serval plays her electric guitar.

8Clara - Promise, Not Command

The bond between Clara and her robot ally Svarog is a beautiful and mysterious tale of a found family in even thebleakest of settings in war-torn Belobog, where the story’s first part takes place. Svarog will do anything to protect Clara from any danger. Though, you get the sense that Svarog would calculate an outcome where she didn’t have to fight at all.

All of Clara’s attacks are defenses performed by her robotic buddy, which also goes for her ultimate move. Svarog and Clara don’t have an offensive attack, instead, he wraps his body around her and protects her from all incoming damage. The familial bond they have is beautiful to witness in their play style.

7Hook - Boom! Here Comes The Fire!

Pitch-Dark Hook the Great is the leader of the Moles Adventure Squad, and she won’t let you forget it! Hook earns her place as leader of the group in terms of combat and charisma. So much leadership material that she recruited one of your party members as well. True to the group’s moniker, all of Hook’s attacks have her digging with her diggertron the ground to move.

Her ultimate takes her digging technique and turns it up to eleven as she lets her mechanical hand to the driving as she plows into all enemies on the field, only to be launched in the air by the force of the Ultimate. Hook is fearless, and this is nothing to her, but it’s still pretty fun to witness.

6March 7th - Glacial Cascade

March 7th puts a lot of thought into how to make herfighting technique as cute as possible, like her. She has a defensive skill that’s called ‘the power of cuteness’, after all. There’s nothing wrong with making all your deadly skills fit your aesthetic, right? March 7th’s favorite colors of pink and blue are everywhere, from her outfit to her ultimate.

Glacial Cascade takes one of March 7th’s magic arrows and turns it into frozen bunnies to cast an area-of-effect attack over the whole enemy party. It’s a dance of glitter, particle effects, and snow. It might not be the strongest attack on the roster, but March 7th would argue that it’s one of the cutest.

Hook is blown into the air by her powerful Diggertron attack.

5Bailu - Leap Of Marsh Drakon

Speaking of cute, this abundance healeris just a little ball of cuteness that hides a fairly deadly kick in her arsenal. The little healer has an abundance of water that comes from her mysterious gourd to heal herself and one party member as needed. Fitting, for a micro master of medicine.

Her ultimate takes her normal skill move and has her summon the full power of water to heal the whole party. As she opens it, it’s as though the ocean itself bends to her will as fish swim around the party healing them and casting invigoration, a buff that makes her healing that much stronger.

4Jing Yuan - Mercy At Your Expense

If a man has a compliant white lion, chances are he’s pretty powerful. That sentiment rings true for Jing Yuan, though sadly the lion isn’t available for combat. He is a very strong AOE hitter and a complete powerhouse with his mighty broadsword.

That isn’t the best of it either, it gets better. For his ultimate, Jing Yuan embodies a literal god in the heavens to strike down on enemies below with his lightning attack. It’s almost as if he became possessed by the Erudition god himself, creating a powerful picture to be sure.

3Himeko - Heavenly Flair

The navigator of the Astral Express is no stranger to danger or combat, but that doesn’t mean that she has to forego style or elegance while engaging in a fight. Hell, she doesn’t even have to do anything for her ultimate Heavenly Flair. Instead, she can just sit and have a cup of tea while enemies get taken out.

She orders a giant space laser, presumably from the Star Rail itself, and lays waste to everything in its path, all while not lifting a single finger to the enemies.

Bailu smiles as she prepares to release her gourd full of water.

2Seele - Butterfly Flurry

Seele floats like a speedy butterfly and stings with the power of a thousand bees with her scythe, and you’ll end up defeated before you even realize it with her incredible speed. Though much different from her Honkai Impact Third counterpart, that doesn’t mean her strength should be underestimated.

Butterfly Furry takes full advantage of her speed, as she blasts across the screen and cuts an enemy over seven times before they realize what happened. It makes sense though, as her element is Quantum, which essentially deals with time on a tangible level.

1Welt - Synthetic Black Hole

How could anyone argue against summoning a synthetic black hole from out of nowhere to pull your enemies into another world? Well, it’s more likely that they’ve succumbed to the effects of what a black hole will do.

Welt is the only character within the Hoyoverse to transcend games, having come from Honkai Impact 3rd). If he can travel between whole games universes, then why wouldn’t he have the best ultimate of all the characters?
