A certain subsect ofHorizon Forbidden Westplayers have taken their homophobia to new levels this week as their negative reactions to Burning Shores' entirely optional same-sex kiss refuse to let up. These supposed Horizon fans are now voicing their displeasure to the vocalist who lent her voice to the DLC, someone who had absolutely no part in writing the game’s story whatsoever.“I’ve continuously received angry DMs from gamers, as my vocals are featured on a scene in the DLC that they see as ‘LGBTQ propaganda’,”Julie Elvenrevealed on Twitter. The vocalist has received everything from puking emojis in reaction to the part she played in the game to accusations that she has destroyed the whole Horizon series. Again, Elven is a singer who contributed to the Burning Shores score, having no input whatsoever in the inclusion of the aforementioned kiss.RELATED:Audience Scores Have Lost Their Meaning“The positive comments and influx of love absolutely outweigh the negative ones, but the continuous hateful DMs show how much still needs to change,” Elven adds, also clarifying this isn’t a complaint about DMs from players who didn’t like Burning Shores' story, just the ones spewing hate in her direction for the same sex kiss between Aloy and Seyka near the end of the latest Forbidden West expansion.

Burning Shores was review bombedon Metacritic shortly after it launched, the negative reviews confirming many players, most of which probably hadn’t even played the DLC, took issue with Aloy being confirmed to be queer. I say that they probably hadn’t played it themselves and simply read about the moment since kissing Seyka is optional. You are given three options at that particular moment in the game, and if those bothering Elven and claiming Horizon is ruined dislike the idea of Aloy and Seyka sharing a tender moment that much, they can simply choose not to do it.

That would be too easy though, of course, and apparently, that hate instead needs to be channeled towards people who didn’t even have a part to play in including it. As for the review bombing, something that has become more and more prevalent in the video game space, it was the reaction by some to the Burning Shores' kiss thatprompted Metacritic to issue a statement pledging to put better measures in placeto prevent hateful and unnecessary reviews dragging scores down.
