The gameplay ofDave The Diveris heavily focused on exploring the Blue Hole that changes every time you dive into it. As you progress in the main story, you get to see new areas with unique fish and environments. Some of these fish can be extremely rare to find, but they also have a lot of value.
Whenever you’re trying to catch a specific fish, you need to keep the time of day and depth level in mind. When it comes to Humboldt Squid, you’ll need to perform a dive at nighttime, just before the Sushi Restaurant opens.
Where To Find A Humboldt Squid
To get a Humboldt Squid in Dave The Diver, you’ll first have to unlock Night Fishing. To do this,you’ll have toget A Noisy Customer questand talk to Otto at the Sushi Restaurant. Once you’ve unlocked this feature, you can dive on any night before you head over to Bancho Sushi if you want to get the Squid.
This giant red fish can be found between depths of 50 to 130 meters. You canfind it anywhere in the Blue Hole as far as you’re at this depth, so you’ll have to look around for a while. There’s only one Humboldt Squid in the water every night you dive, so it’s important to make the most out of it.
How To Get Three Star Humboldt Squid
Simply put, you can’t get a three-star Humboldt Squidunless you get a Tuna Party event where Cobra will give you Salvage Drones. These drones can be used on an asleep or dead fish to take them directly to the boat. This lets you get their three-star version and also prevents them from weighing down your inventory.
If you’ve acquired the Drone, thenext step is to get a Tranquilizer Harpoon, Tranquilizer Rifle, or an upgraded Hush Dart. You can use these items to put the Squid to sleep and then get close to it to use the Salvage Drone. Of course, you can also simply defeat it and then use the Drone.
You’ll get extra meat if you use the Drone on the Squid,but it’ll be a three-star only if you use it when it’s asleep, not defeated.
You can only get Tranquilizer Harpoon byfinding it randomly in a weapon chest underwater, while the other two items can be crafted.
The Harpoon gets reset to the basic one every time you go out of the water.
If you get too close to the Squid, it’ll grab you with its tentacles andyou’ll have to spam a couple of buttons followed by a QTE to get released. It’ll then leave a purple ink behind while getting away from you. If you swim into this ink, you’ll get poisoned and take damage every few seconds for a while.
