Daydream Episodes offer compelling story content for every fan’s favorite characters, but they also double as the main source of side quests inThe Legend of Heroes:Trails into Reverie. It’s a pretty unique approach, seeing as they mainly regard events that occurred in the dayspriorto the events of the main game, but then, only a world as fleshed out as Zemuria’s can pull that off so well.

Millium remembers her friend in an Erebonian forest in Trails into Reverie

Among the Daydream Episodes, ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ gives Trails of Cold Steel fans some satisfying continuation for Millium. We’re in search of an old friend, but the road will be a bumpy one!

Starting ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’

As is the case with all Daydream Episodes, you’re able to’t commence ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ until you’ve acquired enough Red Sealing Stonesto unlock it in proper order at the Reverie Corridor. It was the fifth Daydream Episode we unlocked, so it’ll presumably be the same for every player.

Boot it up when you can, and we’ll be introduced to the narrative draw of the quest. We’re back in Cold Steel locale Milsante, where Millium has begun her search for faithful Lammy. After the heartfelt intro scenes, we’re whisked away to the primary location of this little adventure, whereOz Mirageswill wander about. Do you need to battle them all? No, not in the least, though therewillbe forced battles.

Melgea prepares to do battle against Millium, Rean, and friends in Trails into Reverie’s Secret Corridor

These battles are cake, however. You can pretty much cleave your way straight through with anything Rean has in his arsenal plus a second or third volley fromValiant Cannon. We get some great insight into the Naglfar, and as Jusis puts it, their impressive synchronization including language capabilities.

Pull outBrionacand ample Link Attacks, and the second forced encounter won’t be much harder. You’ll see a pattern - as is often the case with linear Trails dungeons, each room change includes a battle and a scene. Pretty much everyome gets their chance to shine in a given scene.Rest up at the stationbefore entering Secret Sector Depths.

Battling Melgea

Sure enough, Jusis' bad feeling proves justified. Melgea has about 200k HP, which is nothing to scoff at, though being that this is a Daydream Episode, the challenge isn’t especially high. Still, let your guard down for too long, and Melgea can and will seize the initiative. Let’s avoid that.

The biggest threat Melgea brings to the fight isDark Shot, which dishes up to 4000 or so damage in a wide enough area that purposefully evading it is generally out of the question.Dark Shot also lowers Defense, meaning follow-up hits with it can crater the affected party members for roughly half their maximum HP. (Well, except Rean. More like a third there.)

Both Rean and Jusis have countermeasures, so make full use of those. Since this is a one-round and relatively straightforward encounter, don’t hesitate to go all-out with powerful Crafts. Pressure him enough, and Melgea will be down for the count in just a few rounds, but if you’re finding it difficult to withstand his strikes (especially on higher difficulties),avoid having characters stand in front of himwhen possible - his regular attack is a linear AoE he fires forward directly.

For winning the battle, you’ll get the Andvari Quartz, a costume set, and more Character Notes. But let’s be real, the true reward is Millium’s happiness. As an aside, is it just us, or are the Naglfar a bit like Pokemon? Just listen to them!
