Final Fantasy 16, The location of Svarog

Where To Find Svarog

Svarog isn’t hard to find.Once his hunt become available in the third act of the game, head to the Glorieuseobeliskin The Holy Empire of Sanbreque. From the obelisk, head toward the south-east tip of the map, entering into Mornebrume. You’ll find Svarog here. He’sprettyhard to miss.

How To Beat The Svarog

Svarog can be extremely tricky for two primary reasons. The most obvious difficulty you will face is just how hard he hits. Often, two attacks are all he’ll need to end you. Moreover, his attacks haveginormousrange, and are hard to counter, as he is nearly always in the air.

The table below will break down all of Svarog’s attacks - those in italics are named attacks that appear on-screen, so you can look out for them specifically.

Description

Breath Laser (vertical)

Svarog will fire a laser beam straight in front of him. Shortly after, the ground will erupt in a wall of fire.

While the beam itself is very fast, it is also super linear and has a pretty notable tell. So, once you see Svarog rears his head back, start strafing around him. You can also go for the precision dodge (or block) if you are feeling daring, but the consequence if you miss is dire, so don’t try that until you feel like you have the timing down.

Final Fantasy 16, Svarog creating a wall of fire

Breath Laser (horizontal)

Svarog fires off a sweeping laser that will cause a wall of fire.

Unlike the vertical version of the Breath Laser, this one erupts soon after it is fired. So, if you are in the path of the flame, you are going to want to use your dodge almost immediately after.

Final Fantasy 16, Svarog swooping in on Clive

Fireball

This is a pretty standard fireball fired from the air. Svarog tends to throw three of these at a time.

These are easy enough to precision dodge, just make sure you follow up with your magic counter to hit him in the air.

Final Fantasy 16, Hitting Svarog with the Wings of Light

Swoop

Svarog swoops in delivering heavy damage in the process.

Svarog will fly backward before performing this swooping attack. So, it is extremely easy to precision dodge or precision block. That being said, he tends to perform this attack after he has fired off one of his flame walls, which will obfuscate your vision. That is when things get a little trickier.

Blazing Legion

Svarog sends out multiple rows of stationary (or slow moving) balls of fire.

If Svarog uses this move during his first phase, these projectiles don’t move. However, during in the later half of the fight, they will move very slowly. So, you will now be able to precision dodge them.

Red Dawn

Svarog calls forth a wall of flaming pilars which will converge at the center of the screen before fanning out again.

The pillars Svarog fires off all appear as a pool of fire before they erupt. So, these are precision dodge bait. Just stand over a pool and hit that dodge. You’ll be able to get in on Svarog easily. However, during the later parts of the fight the form this attack takes shifts. Instead, this becomes a linear procession of fire columns. It will also be used alongside hisBlazing Legionattack.

Embroil

This attack has two parts. Firstly, Svarog will summon a meteor to slam down from the sky. This is pretty easy to dodge. Next, a ring of fire will slowly expand from where the meteor struck. You’ll need to precision dodge this ring of fire (or jump over it, if you like). Finally, a the ground will begin to glow in spots all around where the meteor landed.

The first two parts are pretty easy to dodge. The final part of this attack can catch you if you aren’t ready for it, but there will be space in between each of those glowing spots. You’ll be safe if you aim for one of them. Since those glowing spots

You are going to be dealing with a lot of projectile attacks in the first phase of this battle. His fireballs typically come in groups of three, and his beam attacks will you enough time to dodge away from them. When Svarog is doing these attacks, you will want to precision dodge and follow up with the magic counter. You can advance on him if you like, but, eventually, he will swoop in and place himself at your feet. Once he does, you can use the precision block to great effect if you have Titan’s moveset equipped, otherwise, you can just use your trusty precision dodge.

One of Svarog’s dirtiest tricks is how he uses both his horizontal Mouth Laser and hisRed Dawnto obfuscate your vision while he either prepares to shoot his Fireball or Swoop in.Thankfully, there will still be time to react once he does, just have your finger hovering above that dodge button, because an attackwillfollow either of those moves.

Keep using your counter magic off of the precision dodge, and then precision dodging (or precision blocking) his swoop attack, then following up with your best Eikonic abilities when he’s grounded. You will quickly whittle away a third of his health, and he will transition into his second phase.

Once you have taken about a third of Svarog’s health, he will start to use his “Dragon Dance”. This isn’t really a new attack, instead, he starts stringing together his fireballs with his mouth lasers. When this is happening, you are going to want to just precision dodge and keep your distance.Don’t worry, he will end this with his Swoop attack, which will put him right where you want him.

He will also start to combine moves like hisRed Dawn with hisBlazing Legionattacks. That’s why, just like with the Dragon Dance, you aren’t going to engage him, you are going to keep your distance. Just stay on the outskirts, pelting him with magic, and waiting for him to swoop in.

While there is no “right” loadout to enter into this battle with, we do recommend bringing a few attacks that will make your life easier. For starters,Wings of Light is an excellent projectile attack. And the ol' Heatblade is still a fantastic response to projectile attacks. We also think that the block is a great way to shut down his Swoop hard. So, if it isn’t a terrible idea to have Titan as one of your three equipped Eikons. Last, but not least, your Flames of Rebirth attack is extremely useful, as it just takes a single hit from any of Svarog’s attacks to severely damage you, so that heal can be pretty clutch.

The Flames of Rebirth will also stop Svarog mid-swoop—though it won’t interrupt the swoop, it will pause it for the duration of the attack. This will also give you all the time in the world to think about your precision dodge or precision block.

So, in summary, during Svarog’s second phase, justplay it safe. Keep your distance, land counter magic attacks, land charged magic attacks, and hit him with your best ranged Eikonic attacks. Then, unload on him after dodging or blocking his swooping attack.Follow this pattern and you will end Svarog’s reign of terror once and for all!
