As you collect each of the Four Winds inFire Emblem: Engage’s Fell Xenologue, the fourth chapter re-introduces the concept of a three-army battle, and throws you into the middle of its chaos. Fighting on two fronts, you’ll have to determine the best strategy for keeping your units alive and putting to rest the two warring queens.

RELATED:Fire Emblem Engage: Fell Xenologue - Seeds Of Unrest WalkthroughOf course, nothing can be simple, and you’ll have to do all this while carrying the weight of Forced Deployments and the imbalanced inventories of the DLC. And, in true Fell Xenologue fashion, nothing would be complete without the addition of - you guessed it - an obscene amount of flying reinforcements.

Unit Selection And Battle Preparations

With such a large map to tackle and so many lackluster units taking up your deployment slots, picking the right guest unitsfor this map will be tantamount to your success.

For this map, you’ll haveMadeline, the armored axe General,in your party, but herabysmal Hit Ratewill mean she won’t perform as well as many other available tanks.

Chapter 4 Louis Unit Selection Menu Preview With Pair Up Skill

As such, you’ll want to choose agood tank to head your party, and that tank should be two things:

Louis is a natural choicefor this position, butany tank unit with Pair Upthat you’re more comfortable with should take priority.

Pandreo Assign Yunaka As Decoy On Turn One

Additionally, you shouldchoose one Corrin-abusing Avoidance tankto complement your physical one.Zelkov is the best unit for this role(with his superior Strength and Personal Skill), but Yunaka can also do well.

With your tanks situated, the next step is to have aunit who can use Assign Decoy- either through skill or through a pairing with Soren. This will be key in keeping important units alive.

Alcryst One-Shot Astra Storms Ivy On Turn One

And last, but not least, the most crucial unit to your team is agood Lyn user.

Alcryst is best for this map, being a spectacular user of Lyn and having crucial access to bows for the many flying units in this map.

Louis Walls Back Up Units Of Solm’s Army

★★★★★★★★★☆ (9/10)

Alcryst and Lyn, Yunaka/Zelkov and Corrin, Good Soren user

Looking at the map is the most overwhelming part of the battle. However, the trick to success and keeping your head straight isestablishing a strategy during preparationsandcommitting to a singular goal.

Take this map in two parts:

Don’t get bogged downin the excess of enemies and their reinforcements, anddon’t fall for Ivy’s trap.

Ivy’s side is meant to lure you in at the beginning. The purpose is to make you think she’s close and an easy target before shesummons her hoards of Corrupted Wyvernsand catches you off-guard.

Instead of falling for it, we’ll beheading for Timerra and completely ignoring Ivyfor now.

There is a method in Normal mode of completely undoing the balance of this map.

If you defeat Ivy before she summons her reinforcements, there will be no Corrupted Wyvern. Additionally, attacking her before she summons them will result in her not revenge-attacking in the next round until her reinforcements are summoned, leaving her a sitting duck. You can accomplish this with your world’s Ivy - equipped with Excalibur and Sigurd’s ring - and/or by using Alcryst and Lyn’s Astra Storm.

Marching To Timerra

From the beginning, you’ll want to spendTurn Onemoving your Forced Deployments near Alear totrade anything out of the Convoy you need.

Assign Decoy on either your physical tank, like Louis,or an Avoidance tanklike Zelkov or Yunaka. Move them forward while yourspare units take out the nearby enemieson the ground.

Your destination is to thenortheast toward Timerraand her entourage.

Move your units that direction, using Assign Decoy to keep any enemies off Nel and Nil’s back as you move.

Keep your eye on the enemy snipers in this corner. There will be reinforcements of them after a few turns, so Zelestia and any other flying units you bring should proceed with caution.

The greatest concern with Solm’s army is theirabundance of backup units. For this reason, keeping aphysical tank with the Pair Up ability toward the frontto draw them in is the best strategy to prevent being overwhelmed with chain attacks.

Once these backup units have been baited in, you canrush forward with the rest of your armyto eliminate them before pressing forward.

As you progress, you’ll be chased by Elusia’s forces. TheWolf Knights will present the biggest problem.

Whichever tank you aren’t usingfor the front should instead bekept in the backa reasonable distance from the rest of your units (equipped with a ranged option) to absorb their attention.

YourAvoidance tank is likely better suitedfor the back, and they should use the forest to grant them an additional +30 Avoid on top of Corrin’s Dragon Vein.

During your march to Timerra, both sides will summon steady reinforcements. Thenorthern-side reinforcements can be entirely ignoredsince they’ll be preoccupied fighting each other.

Thereal riskis in theCorrupted Wyverns that Ivy summons on Turn Four. They have incredible range, can nullify the ground benefits of Corrin’s Dragon Vein, and ignore Defense and Resistance.

From the moment they appear, you’re on a clock. You’ll want todefeat Timerra and her group before these wyverns get within range of your units; otherwise, you’ll be stuck between a rock and miasma place.

One of these Corrupted Wyverns will be far ahead of the others. Once it gets within your range, you should use Lyn’s Astra Storm to take it out completely. It will cause huge headaches for you if you leave it be, so it’s best to take it out before it becomes a problem.

Timerra will begin moving toward your group as you approach. You’ll want tobait her down with a high-resist unitto absorb her Bolt Axe.

Once Timerra is baited down, her entourage will begin moving after her. You’ll haveonly one turn to defeat herbefore they catch up.

Fighting Timerra is thankfully quite easy, and you canabuse breaking her stanceto get good chunks of damage in. She also hasno Range Three options, so using Thoron and Longbow for supporting damage is a good option.

You’ll want tosave your Engage attacks, if possible for the chaos of Timerra’s group.

Once Timerra is dealt with, you can look north totake care of the large group.UsingCorrin or Sigurd’s Engage Attackswill be useful here since these units have a tendency to line up for you.

Additionally,Camilla’s Dark Infernodoes good damage to this group, andstacking it with Corrin’s Torrential Roarwill ensure none of these units will move in the next turn. This will grant you a one-mistake-free card in case you get unlucky with your Hit Rates.

Many of the supporting units will bearmored units, souse your mages and Alear’s Armorslayerto take them out one by one.

Do note the single Marital Master who will be using Chain Guard in this group. They should be targeted first.

By the time you’re done dealing with these units, the Corrupted Wyverns and Ivy will be upon you.

Ambushing Ivy

Thankfully, with the front-running wyvern gone,Ivy will typically place herself right at the front and leave a wide openingfor you to send your entire party against her.

Youdon’t need to worry about any of the other unitssince the map will end when Ivy is gone, andIvy carries Bolting, so shewon’t be able to attack you back at melee range.

There are a number of good attacks to use here, but if you have a Soren user with you, you shoulduse Soren’s Cataclysm attack(with Madeline adjacent for Cataclysm+) to deal a number of crucial debuffs against Ivy before making any other attacks.

Gregory can nowuse Warp Ragnarokto get behind Ivy and deal damage that way, and you can use any other means you see necessary to close the distance.

Be warned, however, thatIvy has “Stalwart.“This means thateffectiveness against fliers does not workon her. No abusing Excalibur or bows this time.

Go all out against Ivyand hold nothing back. You absolutely cannot afford to let her live more than a single round.

If you can’t get your entire army against Ivy and close out your fight with her, you’ll need tomove back and smartly use your Assign Decoyas you gather your forces.

You canuse Assign Decoy on a high-resist unitin the back to absorb Ivy’s Bolting or Cataclysm andsend Madeline and Ike forwardjust enough to take the standard Wyvern Knights' attention away from any units. However, don’t place any of your units within the range of the Corrupted Wyvernsif you can help it.

Once you have Ivy in a position you’d like and can ensure a one-round success,go all out and end this maponce and for all. Your reward will be the end of this chapter and, in the next installment, no longer being forced to use these troublesome Forced Deployments.
