Black Fire Pass

Your first challenge in the Trial of Fates is a fairly easy one. You face off against theWaahs to end all Waahsas a veritable green tide of angry axe-waving Orcs is coming your way. It’s similar to theEmpire’s Black Pass fight, but with your Tzeentchian team taking the high ground first.

Speaking of the hill, stay there. Your army is small, theirs is not and you’re going to need every damage bonus andelevation enhancementpossible to hang in there for a long time. Plus, it’s alsowhere the Chaos Shard is,and keeping that in your team colors will provide your team with a lot ofuseful benefits.

Staying up on the slope gives yourPink Horrors and Soul Grinder a good line of sightfor their ranged attacks and fighting downhill comes with someextra damage and accuracy benefitsfor your Chaos-tainted soldiers. The main threat in this fight is going to beOrc Arrow Boyz, so land your Lord and dump as many spells as you possibly can onto them.

You have Chaos Knights, keep them forchasing off the archers. The Orcs clump in too big a mass for a charge to be effective, so use them forharrying range units away.

After a while Black Orcs, Idols, and otherstronger units from the Orc ranks will start to show up. Try to focus these down with damage, whilst using your powerfulfree Tzeentch spellson infantry blobs that will organically form up on your tight frontlines. You’re in for the long haul here, sotake as many of them with you as you can.

It’s arguably a little easier than the previous fight as you’ll be facing off against amassive tide of Zombies, Crypt Ghouls, and Skeletonsat first but the Undead horrors will get worse as it goes on.

The first lot of Undead lads aren’t too tricky to deal with. Just use the same approach as before, big lads withswords forming the blocking linewith your range tossing fiendslobbing projectiles from behind. Things will get a little dicey if you don’tkeep an eye on your Lordas there arewaves of Fell Batsthat will swamp them. The biggest threats in this fight will be theGrave Gaurd and Vargheists.

A good tip is touse your Doom Knights to take out Kemmleras quickly as you can. Not having a Lord around won’t instantlydisintegrate the Undeadlike it normally would, but it will cause them tocrumble fasterallowing you to rack up that kill count before you’re inevitably overwhelmed.

Undead are weak to fire. So drop as many fire spells on them as you can.

Your main concern during this battle isthe damage Archaon can do, so try to take him out of the picture as soon as you can. TheChaos Warriors and Great Weapon wieldersshould also be a priority for thosebig area-of-effect spellsas they can wear down your troops if not dealt with quickly.

Your priority in this fight will be holding the ground andmaneuvering your cavalry aroundto deal with the various Horrors before they cansaturate your lines with magic bolts.

You won’t kill them all, but if youharry them with horsesit’llkeep them in skirmish modeand unable to fire on your troops. The next big threat on the field after them will be theChosen Of Tzeentchthat start to filter in, they’requite sturdy boysthat will dent your frontlines substantially if not worn down quickly. A good trick is tohide in one of the circles of trees, this negates a lot of the damage from the horrors, and with the right amount ofspell throwing and unit placement, you can hit Platinum pretty easily.

Kairos willcharge straight for your Lordfrom the start. So use this tobait him into a trapwith your Halberds and Gaze of Fate Hex.
