Taking the time to explore the Northern realms and Skellige by deviating from the beaten path will reward players with anything from ability points to weapons to money and experience points.

Discovering a remote location in Ard Skellig will give players one such reward. Abandoned Sawmill, named after the area the quest is set in. It’s not long, with just four hints scattered around the site to investigate, each giving a hint to the reason why the sawmill has been abandoned.

Where To Start Abandoned Sawmill

You’ll find the deserted area in theeast of Ard Skellig,Skellige’s largest island. If you haven’t discovered theAbandoned Sawmill Fast Travel point,you can find it betweenDruids' CampandGedyneith.

You’ll have visited Druids' Camp duringEchoes of the Past,when Yenneferused a magic artifactagainst Ermion’s wishes during your search for Ciri.

The quest starts immediately after you arrive at the settlement, where Geralt notes that something is very wrong with the area.

Investigating The Abandoned Sawmill

As always,Geralt’s Witcher Sensesare key to discovering what had happened here. You’ll need to use them to findfour clues,both out in the open and within the buildings.

You can findseveral sets of bonesin the open areain the middle of the settlement.

These arehidden in a chestin thenorthernmost housein the settlement.

Lumberjacks' Letter To His Wife

Search achest in the northeastern hut,adjacent to the Sawmill Owner’s Notes, for this letter.

Letter From A Druid

Thesouthernmost housein the settlement needs you todestroy its door with Aardbefore you’re able to enter and find the letter.

After discovering all four clues, the monster responsible will appear.It’s a leshen,though not a particularly notable one. Killing it will end the quest.

Leshens, beingwooden creatures,are particularly vulnerable tobeing set alight.Use Igni or Dancing Star to warm them up.
