While Clive’s trip to Rosalith is an unexpected distraction from his main goal of destroying Valisthea’s Mothercrystals, it’s certainly a necessary one. In a bid to draw him out and catch him in a trap, Hugo Kupka has taken his arm to the capital of Rosaria and began razing it.

Make your way forwards andopen the first gate of the stage. Behind it, you’ll face someDhalmekian soldiers, a mix of Stone Scimitars, and a Stone Scepter.Take out the Scepter first, as they will keep castingProtect, which is a very annoying status effect to deal with.

Climb the nearby ladderto continue on after eliminating the enemies. You’ll face another pack of soldiers soon, preceded by a cutscene. After dealing with them, head under the broken archup ahead and take on the next group of enemies. This group consists ofRepublican Battlehoundsand a single Stone Scepter. Deal with the Scepter first, and then mop up the hounds.

The next encounter you face includes aStone Headsman, which is a ninja-type enemy. Make sure you avoid hisPoison Mist, as it will deal a ton of damage if it hits you and stuns you to boot.

Climb the ladder after this encounter, and before heading up the nearby set of stairs, open the chest to the left - it contains100 gil and some Steelsilk. Then, climb the stairs and open the gates to progress.

Final Fantasy 16 - Fighting the coeurl in Rosalith

Fight the enemies here and thenclimb up the wall to the left. Halfway up the stairs ahead, you can open a chest to getThe Will of Lightning (Pile Drive), which improves the ability’s damage by ten percent. This is already a high-damage ability, so this is a good accessory to consider equipping.

Head through the gate ahead and defeat the large pack of enemies here. As soon as you win, you’ll be faced with a boss fight.

Jailbreak

After the cutscenes and breaking out of jail, you’ll be in thecourtyardwhere you fought the Coeurl.Climb the stairsand approach the slightly-open doors to continue.

This part of the stage is abattle gauntlet against multiple groups of enemies. The first is against agroup of normal soldiers and a Stone Gaoler- which has the same moveset as the Ironblod Fanatics from the stage in Drake’s Breath earlier in the game.

More enemies, including somelow-level hounds, will appear as you beat up the Gaoler.

Once you beat the Gaoler and his lackeys, you’ll be attacked bytwo Stone Headsmen at the same time. The best way to take these on is tofocus on one Headsman at a time, trying to take one out as quickly as possible.

Be especially wary ofPoison Mist, regardless of which enemy it comes from. It deals a ton of damage, and you’ll want to prioritize avoiding it over everything else.

After beating the Stone Headsmen, you can proceed into the castle ahead. Head further inside, and you’ll find and face Hugo.

How To Defeat Hugo Kupka

Hugo, like the Coeurl from earlier, is a very aggressive fighter and is quicker on his feet than you might think.
