The quest begins aftermeeting the guardsmen at midnight de la Croix’s Mill. After going over the plan, the group are ready to begin, starting the battle immediately after.

Capturing Roderick

Geralt leaps over a wall and finds himselfface-to-face with the first of many enemies. While the men were trying to flee, they are forced to fight Geralt as soon as they realize that there is no hope of escape. You will need tokill the first set of enemiesbefore pushing through a street leading to Roderick, the castle’s owner.

With the number of enemies present, using decoctions thatimprove with each enemy slainwould be particularly useful. TheGrave Hag Decoctionand theNightwraith Decoctionare particularly useful here.

Geralt’s swing is deflected by a guardsman wearing a metal helmet.

There are ahandful of enemies that may not notice Geralt’s presencein the adjoining street. You canignore them to avoid needless violence.

Roderick isat the end of this street,by a cart filled with his treasures and protected by his men. These enemies areno different from the men you’ve already killed, though awell-placed bombmay devastate the group before you get into range.

Geralt crouches down by a fallen noble during an assault on the latter’s castle at night.

The lord himself willcower until attacked.Leaving him alone untilall his men have been dispatchedwould be a good way tomake the fight easier.

Geralt will confront Roderick when the battle is over. The lord is left confused by his questions, unaware of any hostageand telling Geralt thatSyanna is in the tower. To add spice to the dish, she’sbeen responsible for the bandits staying at the castle.

Regis and Dettlaff stand amidst a pile of bodies as they arrive to help Geralt reach a castle.

Roderick willask Geralt for help with his injuries.Choosing to help him willhelp you earn aparticularly powerful sword, Aerondight.

Reaching Syanna

Geralt is joined by unexpected allies as hemoves into the castle. Both Regis and Dettlaff havejoined the assault, arriving in time to save the witcher from a squad of crossbowmen.

Follow the pairfrom the walls to the castle courtyard. While the enemy is present in overwhelming numbers, the two vampirestear through them like a hot knife through butter. All you need to do isfollow the pair through the carnage, killing whatever foes are left standing.

Once the path is clear, enter the castle. A cutscene will play whereDettlaff enters first, finding Rhenna. Geralt follows suit, putting the clues together andrealizing that Syanna and Rhena are one and the same.

With the ruse revealed, there is nothing to do butwatch the cutscene play outas the quest ends.
