If you liked the Not So Berry challenge, you’ll probably enjoy the Chromatic Legacy Challenge. It’s a more intense and difficult version of the same idea which was created by @maximumdino. This guide contains a challenge overview and tips to help you complete it,you can find the full rules on Maximumdino’s tumblr.
Challenge Overview
Unlike most Sims 4 challenges, theChromatic Legacy challengelastsfifteen generations. You must run a Sim through a specific scenario, give birth to an heir, and complete a set of tasks along the way. You’renot allowed to use cheats, except certain career cheats when the challenge requires it, and you’re supposed to play onnormal lifespan.
Every generation, you’re given a new set of rules that you must follow. For example,each generation has a colour, and you’re strongly encouraged to decorate both your house and your Sim in that colour. You’re also required to give your heir a specific set oftraits, a certainaspiration,and a designatedcareer.
This challenge isnot base-game compatible. It’s designed to give you a taste ofeverythingthe game has to offer, and that means using nearly every expansion and game pack. If you don’t have a certain pack, you’re allowed to fudge the rules and come up with your own challenge for the generation.
To get the most out of this challenge, you’ll needCats and Dogs, City Living, Get Famous, High School Years, Cottage Living, Nifty Knitting, Seasons, Snowy Escape, Island Living, Eco Lifestyle, Tiny Living, Discover University,andParenthood.
Career:Veterinarian
Traits:Vegetarian, Gloomy, and either Dog Lover or Cat Lover
In this generation, your objectives includestarting and running a vet clinic, adoptingat least one stray cat and one stray dog, and maxing thePet Training, Herbalism,andVeterinaryskills. You’re also supposed tomarry a Sim with the opposite Animal Lover trait.
You’ll want tostart working on your Veterinary skillbeforeyou open your clinic.It might be hard not to have the income, but you’re less likely to make mistakes once you start treating pets. You’ll also want tospend as few simoleons on your starting home as you can,becauseyou needthe simoleons to open a vet clinic, and you’ll start with nothing.
Start with the items you’ll need most:a Vet Podium, an exam table, a trash can, and basic living furniture for your Sim.The vending machine, medicine crafting table, and surgery station are alloptional.
Career:Secret Agent (Diamond Agent)
Traits:Self-Assured, Family Oriented, Squeamish
In this generation, you’ll start in aone-bedroom apartmentortiny house,and you’re only allowed to move or expand when you become anadult.You’re required tomax the programming and parenting skills,and raise a happy child while workinglong shiftsas asecret agent.
The challenge tells you tocheat the Computer Whiz aspiration, since you aren’t allowed to join the Tech Guru career; but you’ll have to do everything else the hard way.
StayingFocusedfor most of this generation can help you advance in your career and complete the Computer Whiz requirements.Drinking black tea, pondering chess moves,ordoing your Intelligence Researchwill all help boost your Focused mood. You’ll also want to work on yourCharismaskill; you need friendships and romantic relationships to advance your career after you become a Diamond Agent.
Career:Actor
Traits:Goofball, Outgoing, Romantic
In this generation, you’re going tomove to Del Sol Valleyandbecome aworld-renowned celebrity.You’ve got to max bothActing and Comedyskills. Cheat theEntertainerpart of the Joke Star aspiration, as you’re going to focus on your acting. On top of that, you’re going toplay through a small story for your love life.
You’ll gainmore famewith higher-ranked gigs, but if you want to take things slower for a while, you cantake lower-ranked gigsto keep earning money in the meantime.
You’ll want tofocus on skilling upin the early parts of this generation.A lot of acting gigs require you to have a low level inFitness, Guitar, Dance, or Charisma. Pickone or two skills(besides acting and comedy), and focus on them. Then,ignore the gigsyou don’t have the skills for.
Career:Musician/Social Media
Traits:Music Lover, Snob, Dance Machine
In this generation, you’ve got tobecome a famous musician, but struggle with your love life.
Start small,playing music in the city, andmax at least three musical skills— singing, guitar, violin, piano, DJ mixing, or pipe organ. You’ll also need tomake at least 2 Trendi looks a week, and getsigned by a record label.There’s also anoptional goalto get a star on the walk of fame. Finally, you’ve got to haveat least five romantic relationships,with at leastfour ending on bad terms.
Theeasiest way to end a relationshipon bad terms is tocheat on a romantic partner— play the field a little too enthusiastically, and make sure your sim gets caught. If you don’t want to bring the drama,Complainingabout things a lot orcalling them at 1 AMcan also do the trick!
Sims with the Snob trait tend to not get along withChildish,Freegan, orGoofballsims. If you want to make it easier to break up, pursue a sim with one of those traits!
Career:Retail Business
Traits:Animal Enthusiast, Creative, Cheerful
This generation’s a bit all over the place. You’ve got three main objectives:maxyourknitting/handinessandcross-stitching skills, become a master mixologistandmax the barista career.You should alsorun a successful businessselling eitherknittedorwoodworkedhandicrafts.
You’re going to want tomove to Henford-on-Bagley, because the challenge requires you todo favours for the town’s residents.We recommend that you max your Mixology skill and top the career, before youquit your joband open your handicraft retail business.
You’re also supposed tohave exactly three children,who must betriplets.The challenge allows you to cheat to verify this happens; if you don’t want to cheat, the Fertility perk and Born on a Ley Line lot traits can help.
If you’re struggling to make enough handicrafts to stock your business,you can instantly make copies of any crafted item. These items won’t sell for as much, and they’ll be poorer quality. But if your stock’s flying off the shelves, they can keep you in business until you can make more.
Career:Law (Lawyer branch)
Traits:Ambitious, Perfectionist, Good
In this generation, “you’re too busy helping the world to watch your children grow”. As a child, you need towatch the news after schoolandalways complete your homework;as you grow older, you need to max theResearch and DebateandWriting skills,andtake in a stray cat or dog.In addition, you need toalways take the Work Hard option at school and work.
You’ll neglect your personal life.Marry an Ambitious simas a YA,grow apartfrom them as an adult, andbecome friendswith them as an elder.Adopt at least one toddler,buthire a nannyto take care of all your children.
You’re going to be working hard this generation— hard enough that youandyour spouse can (optionally) earn theworkaholic lifestylewithout too much effort.
Research and Debate can help you out a lot here, as it has a surprising benefit: at level 9, you cancall your boss and ask for a bonus.
Just ensure you level R&D at university.You can use research machines for free while you’re a student,but they’ll cost you a pretty penny once you’ve left school.
Career:Engineer
Traits:Loner, Loves The Outdoors, Overachiever
After that last fast-paced generation, you’re going toslow downandspend some time in the great outdoors. As a child, your Bronze heir must getstraight As in school,butmove to a world away from your familyandhave a bad relationship with themas a young adult. You’ll only haveone childthis generation, and you must bebest friendswith them.
To keep your relationship with your child high, spend as much time with them as you’re able to, and perform positive interactions with them. If you haveParenthood, working ona school projectwith your kid can help raise their friendship with you and their school performance at the same time; if you haveGrowing Together,thenteaching your child to ride a bikeis an excellent (and cute!) way to raise your relationship.
You’ll need tohave a fully functional gardenand max yourRobotics, Flower Arranging, and Gardeningskills,as well asobtain the Super Green Thumb and Early Bird traitsfrom the Reward store. These are both pretty expensive reward traits, so you’ll need to get a lot ofSatisfactionby completing your Sim’s Whims and their Aspiration.
An easy way to cheese Satisfaction is togive your Sim a lot of Likes for music genres, and keep them in the same room as aradioat all times. They’ll get a lot of whims to listen to Cottagecore or Summer Strut or what have you, you can instantly fulfill them, and they’ll get a lot of Satisfaction.

Career:Athlete
Traits:Active, Adventurous, Jealous
Time to pick up the pace again. In this generation, you’re going to become an adrenaline junkie. You’ll have tomove to Mount Komorebiand challenge the mountain. You’ll need tomax your Fitness and Rock Climbing skills,as well as either yourSnowboardingorSkiingskill.Lead at least three mountain expeditions, and haveat least one tragic eventhappen in your life.
As if all that wasn’t enough, you’ve got to keep many strong relationships. You have tohave your parent attend all your baby’s birthsandmove them in from the time they become an elder to the day they die.You’ve got tohave a close friend group of three or four simsfromhigh schooluntildeath.And you or your partner mustread your children to sleep every night.
If you’re struggling to maintain your Sim’s relationships, there are a couple of things you can do to make things easier on yourself. First, consider picking up theProfessional Slackerreward trait as soon as you can. Professional Slacker means you can take as much unpaid vacation time as you want without losing your job; it’s great for helping you spend some time catching up with friends. Second,multitask as much as possible.Hang out with your friends while at the gym, or invite your parent over for dinner. Mixing things your Sim already has to do with social time means you waste a lot less time.
Career:Salaryperson
Traits:Child of the Ocean, Foodie, Childish
This generation is all about taking in everything the world has to offer. You have totravel between at least three worlds— Mount Komorebi, San Myshuno, and Sulani— andcomplete each location’s aspirationduring one of your life stages. Every house you live in must be atiny home,though you can choose which tier you want to live in.
You have tocomplete a collectionorlearn all the San Myshuno food stall recipes.We’d recommend the food stall recipes, because all you have to do to complete the collection is buy and eat each food, and that’s part of your aspiration anyway. You alsomust max your Charismaand at leastthree other skills. Logicandwritingare good skills for a salary person, and if you want to follow the Expert career track, you want to maxProgrammingas well. You also musthave at least two flingsin every world you live in. Ultimately, you’ll settle down andraise your children in Sulani, finally taking it slow for the first time in your life.
If you canmarry a mermaidand have your heir be a mermaid, it’ll make generation ten much easier.
