Sometimes bravery and courage come in a small package, and the Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear is a prime example. He’s a toy that cares deeply about his friends and won’t let evil stand, and he brings that energy toDisney Dreamlight Valley.

Still, Buzz wasn’t immune to the Forgetting, the game’s central conflict. It took his memories away like many others, and at times, he’ll need your Dreamlight magic to regain them. This guide will show you how to complete his friendship quest, The Fragmented Past, and help him regain some of those precious memories.

How To Unlock The Fragmented Past

The Fragmented Past is Buzz Lightyear’s third friendship quest, so in order to unlock it, you’ll need to have reachedfriendship level 7with him andcompleted his two prior quests.

You’ll also need to have bothScarandRemyunlocked, and haveprogressed in their friendships. Once you meet the requirements, speak to Buzz to activate the quest.

Taking Buzz To The Forest Of Valor

Buzz will tell you that he’s starting to remember a few things, mainly theForest of Valor, but it’s still rather hazy. Bring Buzz to the Forest of Valor, andonce you approach the river, your quest will update.

Find the newly spawned glowing spotalong the river and dig it up. Interact with the small set of claws that pops out, and you’llunlock one-third of a memorythat involves both Buzz and Scar.

Talk to Buzz again and tell him what you’ve found.

Telling Scar About The Memory

Buzz will say he remembers fighting Scar, but not what they fought about, soyou’ll need to ask Scar about it. Locate him on the map, andspeak with him next.

Scar tells you that the truth might be different from what you or Buzz think happened, butwants you to cook him a mealbefore he tells the whole story. He’ll hand you a recipe book for each of the two recipes he wants: one forFish Soupand one forTuna Burgers.

How To Cook Fish Soup And Tuna Burgers

Fish Soup is a three-star dish that can be made withone Milk, one Fish, and one Vegetable. Any fish or vegetable can be used, and Milk can be bought fromChez Remy once unlocked.

Tuna Burger is a five-star dish and requires a bit more specific ingredients. You’ll needone Tuna, one Onion, one Lemon, one Wheat, and any one vegetable.

Tuna

Caught from white bubbling spots in theGlade of Trust or Forgotten Lands.

Onion

Grown or purchased from Goofy’s stall once upgraded in theForest of Valor.

Lemon

Foraged from lemon trees in theGlade of Trust or Forest of Valor.

Wheat

Grown or purchased from Goofy’s stall once upgraded in thePeaceful Meadows.

Once you’ve made the dishes, bring them back to Scar.

How To Find Buzz’s Second Memory

Once Scar has his meal, he’ll be more forthcoming about information and reveal to you that he and Buzz weren’t fighting – Buzz was actually trying to be his friend. You’re understandably a bit hesitant to believe him, and he’lldirect you to his cave for proof.

Go to Scar’s Cave in the Sunlight Plateauand you’ll find a small Star Command badge on the ground.Interact with itand you’ll get another third of the memory.

Speak to Buzz again, and he’ll refuse to believe he made friends with a villain. His memory’s still fuzzy but he does rememberbeing up the river in the Sunlit Plataeuso that will be your next destination.

How To Find Buzz’s Third Memory

Go further into Sunlit Plateau and you’ll see anorange bubbling spot in the middle of the river. Fish at it, and you’ll end up catching a fishing rod.

Open your inventory and use the Old Fishing Rodto unlock the last third of the memory. It turns out Goofy, Scar, and Buzz were all fishing together and having a good time, not locked in mortal combat.

How To Finish The Quest

Speak to Buzz again, thenfollow him to Scar and watch the scene between them. Scar was telling the truth, and as much as he doesn’t want to admit it, they were friends.

Buzz is a bit shocked by this but learns a valuable lesson about giving people a chance while also regaining a portion of his memories. After, he’ll say he still needs some time to process it and the quest is completed.
