Many ofDiablo 4’sside quests involve aiding the local inhabitants of Sanctuary. Hawezar is a particularly troubled zone, rife with plague and foul, snake-like entities. The Heretic quests will demonstrate just how scared the populace is and how far they are willing to go to protect their homes. It also involves discovering some particularly elusive flowers and is an easy quest line to struggle on.

This guide will explain where to start the Heretic quest, how to complete each of its objectives, and lastly what rewards you may gain from finishing the final quest.
How To Complete The Heretic Questline
The entirety of this quest chain happens in theWestern section of the Hawezar region. You can begin the quest by talking toVass in Zarbinzet, the region’s capital.
He will explain that there have been sightings of demons in the nearby area, and task you with discovering if there are any survivors from their latest attack.
You must travel to the nearby Abandoned Ruins, which you can locate by theAshen Remains scattered around its entrance.
Once inside, you will hear the screams of aFrightened Girl, who will run away from you, believing you to be yet another demon.Once you have slain all the demons in the ruins, you shouldfollow the girlto her new location close by.
Speaking with the Frightened Girlwill reveal her name to beAneta, and she will explain that she was ambushed by demons when outgathering flowersfor her sick mother.
You agree to help her find these flowers. There arethree flowers to find in total:
These will yield a flower of their namesake but can be tricky to locate.Spread out around the blue area on your mini-map;they lie a similar distance apart.
One is found to thenortheast, one to thesouth, and one to thewest. The easiest way of locating them is to ride around these sections untilAneta exclaims that she has found one. She will then run over to it and wait for you to loot the object before remounting.
They are hard to spot by themselves, so it is much easier tolet Aneta direct you to their exact location.
Once you have found the three flowers,escort Aneta back to her mother in Zarbinzet. This is only a short ride away, although you will discover that her mother is not pleased with Aneta’s absence.
You can alsofast-travel back to Zarbinzetwithout losing Aneta as a follower NPC.
Neither is Vass, who chooses this moment to turn up at the house, accusing Aneta of Witchcraft and kidnapping her.You must now track down Aneta’s whereabouts, which will be theForgotten Cave, a story dungeon that appearsjust to the East of Zarbinzet, underneath a waterfall.
The residents confront Aneta, who succumbs to the dark forces controlling her, exploding in a burst of flame. This chars Vass and his people into Ashen Remains, summoning a fresh wave of demons, and revealing her to be the cause of the recent events.
None of these demonic enemies are very tough, sokill them offandtalk to Aneta one last time. She will yell at you to stay away and run out of the cave, completing the quest chain and granting you your rewards.
These rewards will beGold,Experience, a random Crafting Material Cache, 20 Renown with Hawezar, and automatically begin the follow-up quest:A Price To Pay.
