After making his way to the continent of Ash and struggling through brutal hordes of Akashic, Barnabas summons a gigantic barrier around the final Mothercrystal standing between Clive and his ultimate goal. To take the barrier down, he’ll have to take Barnabas down, and to take Barnabas down, he’ll have to enter and conquer Reverie, an imposing tower to the east.

This proves to be one ofFinal Fantasy 16’s most arduous tasks, filled with difficult fights, challenging bosses, and, of course, a clash with the King of Waloed himself. If you’re looking for a guide to this gauntlet, you’ve come to the right place.

Making Your Way Up Reverie

The first section of this stage is quite laidback - you’ll simplymake your way through a linear path,defeating packs of enemies, opening doors, and riding elevators as you go.

You’ll be up against the usualFallen Echoesthroughout this stage, starting with someFallen Hunters and DefenseNodes. After defeating these, press on to the first elevator of the stage. At the top of the elevator, you’ll be up against somePurobolos, which are stronger versions of the Bombs you’re used to.

Final Fantasy 16 - Reverie entrance

In the next room, you’ll be up against aFallen Guardian and some Purobolos. Deal with the bombs first so you don’t risk getting caught up in their explosions.

The next notable enemy you’ll be up against is aPurple Bavarois. This flan-type enemy is similar to the others in the game but has Thunder spells at its disposal.

Make your way through the stage until you reach an elevator that puts you in acutscene. This indicates the beginning of the first boss.

How To Beat The Soultaker

You should recognize this boss from the last time you entered Fallen ruins.

After beating the boss, hop up the nearby wall and then climb the spiral stairs.

When you reach a gate that you have to open manually, check around for a chest in the middle of the room. It containsThe Will of Ice (Mesmerize)accessory.

Behind the gate is another elevator, which is where you’ll fight the second boss fight of the stage.

How To Beat The Control Node

The Control Node is a beefier version of the Defense Nodes you’ve been fighting, and it has some pretty nasty attacks.

After beating the Control Node, the next boss fight starts automatically and immediately, with no chance to heal in between fights.

Uponopening the door at the top of the stairs, you’ll face the final boss of the stage.
