Where To Start Treasure Hunt: A Surprise Inheritance
This quest starts in theeast of Velen, south ofVikk Watchtower,in the town of Stacheier. Its residents have beendriven out by ghouls, making it anabandoned site.
While you couldkill the monstersand let the residents return, trying to avoid the monsters is bothdifficult and will prevent you from earning the experience point and money rewardsfor the good deed.
You will need tosearch a corpse on the hill east of the town, near a ballista. Take both thekey and the letterto start the quest.
Fighting The Archgriffin
After reading the letter, you willreceive a waypointfor the treasure, bringing you further east of the town. The real excitement begins once you get close to an abandoned home wherean archgriffin has made its home.
This monster is intended forplayers around level 38 to fight. If yousee a red skull, retreating isstrongly encouraged.
The archgriffin will be tougher than other griffins. While it shares aweakness to Hybrid Oil,archgriffins are capable ofpoisoning their enemiesin addition to theirattacks making their victims bleed.
The latter is best mitigated bymaneuvering to the monster’s flanks, where it will struggle to hit you. The former can be managed bystaying closeto avoid their poisonous spit and bydrinking Golden Orioleto nullify poison.
Once the monster is slain, open the trapdoor within the quest locationand climb down. The treasure is in a chest inside.
