Fighting the bosses ofDiablo 4is one of the most memorable and fun aspects of the game, and they don’t always need to be a being with lofty plans of evil and deception. Brol, the Tyrant King, embodies the expression ‘mess’ around and find out. He has no grandiose plans to rule Sanctuary or become a god. He wants to watch the chaos unfold.

Brol The Tyrant King Fight

Once you reach the Altar of Sacrifice, a cutscene will play featuring Elias conducting a ritual on Taissa with Brol, spectating in the back. You must fight Brol once the cutscene finishes.

Fighting Brol in the earlier stages of the fight is easier than the fight with Mother’s Judgment during the previous Whispers from the Past quest. This is due toBrol only being capable of melee attacks and having a slow movement speed.

Diablo 4: Brol Charging Attack

His patterns are easily recognizable, allowing you to react quickly to his heavy attacks and charges. There is alsoplenty of room in the Altar of Sacrifice area for you to evade his attacks.

There is quite a discrepancy in movement speed between the four classes of Diablo 4, which has a major impact on the difficulty of fighting Brol. The Barbarian and Druid have the slowest movement speedof the four classes in the game, making it hard to dodge Brol’s powerful melee attacks.

Diablo 4: Brol Slam Attack

If you are using a melee-focused build, you will want totrade your dodge charges with attacks. This will allow you to chip away at Brol’s health and evade his melee attacks.

Brol’s Charge Attack

Brol’s charge attack is his deadliest, ashis movement speed significantly increasesas he rushes toward you.You will be left stunned by the impact.Luckily, though,Brol can only charge in a straight linemaking it easy to doge to either side of his path.

In later phases of the fight, Brol will beginsummoning his cannibal barbariansto attack you, so getting stunned opens you up to a world of hurt. We suggest youequip gear with high defenses and utility, such as Vigo’s Protective Amulet.

Diablo 4: Brol Barbarian Summoning ability

If you don’t have the amulet, you canequip boots that provide extra dodgechargesand equip defensive skills.

Preferably you’ll want skills that grant you temporary invulnerability, such as theNecromancer’s Blood Mist skill,as this effectively grants you an extra dodge charge.

Brol’s Slam Attack

Brol uses his two swords to smash the ground in adevastating AoE attack that deals heavy damage. It’s unlikely that this attack will catch you out, as it takes a couple of seconds for Brol to execute.

Later in the fight, it will become much more difficult to see when Brol uses this attack due to all the minions running around. However, you’ll see theattack’s area of effect highlighted as a white circle on the ground.

Brol will be left vulnerable to attacksfor a few seconds as he recovers from the slam attack. Therefore we suggest that youdodge this attack and quickly run back into attack him.

Barbarian Summoning

Once you’ve chipped Brol’s health down a health marker, he willbegin to summon barbarian enemies. Cleavers and Executioners will begin to chase you around the arena. They can deal a great deal of damage to you if you get caught by a stun.

If you allow them to surround you,Brol’s minions can overwhelm and block you from moving. This is a death sentence, as Brol’s basic attacks deal copious amounts of damage to you.

Keeping Brol’s minionsalive can be a great strategy tokeep Brol away from you, as he will get stuck behind the group of barbarians allowing you to run around the room to wait for your cooldowns to replenish.

Brol’s Knock Back Attack

Brol won’t start using his knockback attack until you’ve whittled down his health below a couple of health markers. This attackpushes you away from Brol and stuns youfor a brief time.

There is little time to reactto this attack as Brolcanexecute it instantly. Brol will shout into the air with both swords by his side when using this ability.

Brol’s minions will likely hit you if they have just spawned, but you may quickly evade multiple attacks since the attack has such a short stun.
