Upon arriving in Kakariko Village, it will be clear that the Upheaval impacted the community here, too. Multiple circular ruins from the sky have crashed down around the village. Research efforts have begun into theseRing Ruinsand their meaning, but the Ring Ruins have also attracted some tourist interest to the village.
How To Start A Trip Through History Quest
To start A Trip Through History, you will need tofind the tourist named Bugut who wanders around Kakariko Village. He will usually stick to the main paths in the village.
Bugut will comment on how there arestone slabs at four of the Ring Ruins with ancient writings on them, but they are too high up for him to check out himself.
Since you look like a plucky young adventurer, he’ll ask you tofind out what each of the ancient slabs say. The leader of the Zonai Survey Team, Tauro, has started translating the Zonai script off the slabs.
You will need toread Tauro’s translation notes for each of the stone slabsfor this quest.
You caneither report back to Bugut each time after you read the writings at a slab, or you canwait until you’ve read all fourto fill him in.
The Eastern And Southern Ring Ruins
Perhaps the easier pair of ruins to begin with arethe Eastern and Southern Ring Ruins.
If you are in the lower area of Kakariko Village, the group of buildings near where Paya works haveladders you can climb to start making your way to the first ruin. All the ruins are on the hills above Kakariko Village, so keep climbing to get to a higher elevation.
TheEastern Ring Ruin is actually a bit northeast of the main village. Upon reaching this ruin, you’re able to read Tauro’s journal to learn how certain ancient people’s abilities were enhanced by secret stones.
After avoiding the nearby East Hill Chasm, continuing clockwisearound Kakariko Villagewill guide you to theSouthern Ring Ruin. These are just barely southeast of the main village. At these ruins, Tauro’s notes mention the sages that protected Hyrule long ago.

The Nestled And Large Ring Ruins
If you continue in a clockwise path around Kakariko Village, you’ll reach theNestled Ring Ruinnext, andin the middle is a group of Bokoblinsthat has set up camp.
Make quick work of the monsters to clear them out, and you won’t be bothered when you go to read the slab’s translation here.
TheLarge Ring Ruinwill be your final destination, and it can be found north of the Lantern Lake area of the village. If you continue in your clockwise fashion, you will soon see a bunch ofscaffolding and ladders that you are able to climb.
After climbing to a certain point, you will seea very sleepy man taking a nap on the slabitself.
While you don’t have to wake him up in order to read Tauro’s translation notes nearby, you might as well, as it ispart of another local quest.
