You’ll be tackling some fearsome fish when it comes toDave the Diver, and while some of the most intimidating might be sharks, marlin bring a new threat to your daily dives because they’re not only aggressive, but they’re speedy too.

The upside is that they create delicious, expensive sushi you can profit from, so when you get the notification about the Marlin Party, you’ll want to ensure you’re stocked up on supplies to make a lot of money in the restaurant. Here’s what you need to know about how to find and catch these fish.
Where To Find Marlin
Marlin will only start toappear from Chapter Two onwardsafter you receive the notification about the Marlin Party. They are only foundduring the day in depths of 0-50m,and unlike tuna, they are found on their own, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be other aggressive fish nearby to keep an eye out for.
How To Catch Marlin
Marlin are aggressive andwill dash at you at high speeds to stab you with their long noses, so be ready to react quickly and move Dave out of the way to protect his O2. You’ll want to be as prepared as possible when catching marlin, andupgraded weapons are a mustto tackle them quickly.
While taking them down with upgraded guns is the quickest way to catch them, this will reduce thequality of the fish meatas you’ll be damaging the fish more.
Harpooning them will likely be your best betwhen you first unlock marlin, ensuring you at least get two-star meat. As it’s a large fish, you’ll have to carve it up for its meat or choose the salvage drone to retrieve it.
Hunting around for chests before tracking down your target marlin can give you a decent upgrade to tackle them if you have yet to upgrade your own gear enough.
How To Catch 3-Star Marlin
Much like sharks and other large fish,if you want three-star marlin, you must tranquilize themand retrieve them with the Salvage Drone.
Though you may later upgrade your weapons, particularly the Hush Dart, to tranquilize large fish, when you unlock marlin, your little dart gun will not be hefty enough to put them to sleep. However, you can findTranquilizer Harpoon Lv. 3 in weapon chests(silver chests with the gold gun icons) at this point, so hunt around until you find one.
The tranquilizer harpoon has a 50 percent success rate, but once you’ve put the marlin to sleep, swim over the press the button (Q on keyboard, or Y on the controller) to call the drone over to collect it.Retrieving fish with the drone yields a higher number of meat!
Your base Salvage Drone can only be used once per dive, though you may upgrade it to have more. Be aware of how many uses you have left before you decide to hunt for three-star marlin.
