You may not see anything right away, butdigging a few times on the same spotmay turn something up that was well-buried.
It takes your farmer a few in-game moments to clear each dig space, but they may uncoversigns of treasureburied within. These are oftenodd shapesin the dirt of varying colors, which denote thatsomething is buried there.
It’ll likely take a couple digs to unearth, butkeep digging that spotuntil your farmer has anexclamation markabove their head, followed by aglow from the holethey were digging.
Just be cognizant of where Carter and Flora are, asyou can’t dig on a spot someone is standing on or looking at.
They’ll stand or look for several times - we got stuck on our last treasure of the day waiting for Flora to move for almost two entire in-game hours - so it may help tostart on spots you know Carter and Flora stand on.
Outsidethe time limit of the operation hours, there isno limit to how much you can dig each day.You can alsocome and goas you please - to finish early, eitherspeak to Carter again, or simplyexit the dig site.
After you’re done diggingfor the day, Carter comes up to the surface with you andevaluates your finds.
Anything thatisn’t significant to their dig, Carter lets youtake home your leftover treasures, which you can eithersellfor cashat your storeor to Van, or give to the townsfolk as gifts.
For the most part, you’ll keep almost everything you findwhile digging - Carter will only keep the stone tablets you find.
The Dig Site Grows Each Year

Foreach year that you find a tablet, thedig site expands the year after thatdue to the quality of the research being performed there! These changes are immediately reflected onSpring Oneof the new year, and you’ll also begin tofind new itemsas the site grows.
This means you’ll need toalter your digging strategy as time passes, though, as what worked in Year One won’t be efficient anymore come Year Four.
